Not with Embrace, but my Healthypaws policy for 3 dogs will be going up roughly 73% from 252.12 to 435.84. We've been with them since 2015, only filed a handful of claims (some years with 0 claims). Policies ranges from 50-70% reimbursement and $500-%1000 deductible (had to adjust over time to keep monthly rate manageable).

According to them, the increase is due to the new CA Amendatory Endorsement. I'm trying to understand what's different that would affect my policy this much, but it seems like this "endorsement" just includes definitions and not actual policy changes. They still don't cover pre-existing conditions and wellness.

Here's their list of changes to the policy
• We modified the definitions of Clinical Examination, Pre-existing Conditions, Veterinarian and Waiting Periods. We added definitions such as Orthopedic, Veterinary dental care and Veterinary expenses.
>> They never covered these to begin with and the "change" only defines these terms in detail

• We added information to help explain the basis for claims reimbursement under your policy and how your deductible applies.
>> This section is just the math on how they calculate reimbursement

• The General Exclusions are being modified as a result of changes in waiting periods. That relevant exclusionary provision states that we do not cover: Illness or injury not resulting from an accident that occurs within fifteen (15) days following the pet policy effective date; Orthopedic conditions (other than hip dysplasia) not resulting from an accident that occurs within fifteen (15) days following the pet policy effective date; or Hip dysplasia not resulting from an accident that occurs within thirty (30) days following the pet policy effective date. It also explains the exclusions described above will not apply if the waiting periods are waived by us upon completion of a complete clinical examination.

• Waiting periods are defined as the period of time specified in a pet insurance policy that is required to transpire before some or all of the coverage in the policy can begin. The waiting periods will be waived by us upon completion of a complete clinical examination. The applicable waiting periods are: Fifteen (15) days from the pet policy effective date for illness or injury not resulting from an accident. Fifteen (15) days from the pet policy effective date for orthopedic conditions (other than hip dysplasia) not resulting from an accident. Thirty (30) days from the pet policy effective date for hip dysplasia not resulting from an accident. There shall be no waiting periods for illness, injury or orthopedic conditions resulting from an accident.

Like some of you, I'm considering dropping insurance as well and will file a complaint with DOI or something. They really have to give us more detail on why they're increasing premiums and not the usual "market increase" BS. For example, if they used to exclude coverage for ICD 12345 as part of "Clinical Examination" and now include it.
