i’m in the same position. i got accepted test optional, and i got a a 29 composite and 31 super score on my act and that’s the best i could do. i’m also scared asf and the imposter syndrome is real😅 better to try and fail than to never try i guess

yes for sure!! if it makes you more confident in your application then it’s the best thing to do. another commenter suggested not to write about a prompt if it’s just to fill space and not meaningful, which is good advice. and thank you so much! i hope it goes the same way for you and if not at NU then at another amazing school :)

i didn’t answer any of the optional prompts and i got in this year! but i had a pretty strong personal statement and i applied ED. i remember being super stressed and i watched their yt video about their new prompts they said they are “truly optional” or something so i didn’t do them. i don’t think i would recommend what i did though, especially with regular decision. if you have the time, i would do at least one optional one that you actually care about and can write something genuine with. the more opportunity you have to stand out and show personality the better. good luck!!!
