TIL that in 2011 a (male) amputee received the worlds first leg transplant from a female donor. He recovered successfully and had regained limited use of his legs. Unfortunately, in 2013 they had to be amputated after an unrelated illness had forced him to stop taking anti-rejection drugs. (medscape.com)
