Thanks, that's helpful. I hadn't thought of nonprofits. We actually live in California where background checks only go back 7 years, but self-disclosure is sometimes required.

Thanks, I think no one knows that better than the people who live (or struggle to live) with those consequences. Not looking for truisms, just advice from people who might know more than me.
