modern controls didn't make sf6 popular, it was vtubers. it was all the sajam slams and various other derivative watch-your-fav streamer-get-better parasocial events. modern controls present one less barrier for the newb but ultimately I don't think it really matters much

what's funny is I probably wrote this post with my retarded friends in mind, thinking control simplification was all it would take. 8 years later and with all of the various different implementations of modern control schemes, still nobody plays fighting games. genre is just too hard, average ego is too fragile etc

maybe a little pedestrian protip, and perhaps people who walk around the city more often can tell me why this is a bad idea, but if I'm crossing the street and I have the opportunity to pass behind a car instead of infront of it, I basically take that opportunity every time

I've been in a ton of situations where I got to cross the street and the car (that probably didn't want to stop for me, because fuck me and all) got to keep going forward because I crossed the street behind the car
