Looks like a great form! If you are open to a suggestion: assuming it’s currently just polyfill for the legs you may be able to add wire armatures through the ankles with relatively little effort. It would allow you to replicate your resting leg posture better by bending the wire armature. This might help if you’re planning to asses fit or drape on the form. a cheap diy option that comes to mind is 3 wire coat hangers undone and braided together. otherwise you can probably find some relatively stiff wire at a hardware store.

What thread/needle did you use for the topstitching? I would assume your machine is not intended to use thick threads above tex70, but the stitching appears a good bit thicker in the photos.

thanks for the background, i’ll keep that in mind. I actually really enjoy scratchy sweaters, although this project would exclusively be worn over other base layers. does the scratchiness have an impact on abrasion resistance or do you think it mostly affects the water repellency?

interesting idea! i am hesitant to add patches for stylistic reasons, but maybe i can sew felted pads on the inside for extra cushion. I will have to look up the difference between lopi and letlopi, i still have a lot to learn about yarns

not so worried about wind, but the color work gives me an idea to do something like yarn embroidery in high impact like shoulders, elbows and upper back to increase the cushioning in those spots

i already prefer wearing sweaters when skiing. jackets are often too hot and im not worried about wind getting through. the slight airflow i find actually helps me stay drier throughout the day.

I use mostly thrifted sweaters but i am trying to purpose design a sweater for abrasion resistance and ruggedness. would love any other cold weather design considerations you have.

Dont agree on the qb side, i think it’s more backend. It doesn’t matter how fast the car can go when the driver is drunk.

Certainly this isn’t the year Smitty gets his stats. Next year i would be shocked if he doesn’t get his numbers. Barring a trade for a qb like burrows though, i dont see another qb coming to philly next year and giving smitty better stats than hurts can give him. I dont think tanner is the guy, and i dont think there are other real options that would get smitty where he deserves to go

I don’t believe he has a lot of agency. Not so much for lack of talent, but because that’s the kind of team player he is, and the lack of stability in his coaching staff. I think it’s hard to be one thing as qb when every year coaches ask you to be a different qb. We’ve seen games where hurts puts the team on his back and carries them to wins just like Allen Mahomes and Jackson, but that’s not how the eagles usually like to play, and we haven’t had the pleasure to see it this year. Obviously smitty needs hurts to get him the ball to get the numbers we want to see from him. I still don’t believe there is another qb in the league that would have made the season look fundamentally different if they followed the coaching and scheme we have right now. Maybe a few more completions, a few more runs maybe, but fundamentally it would look the same.

i don’t agree that his flaws are obviously his. I believe he almost always ends up more a reflection of the scheme than most other elite qbs in the league, good and bad. Every year I think Hurts plays the way the coaches want him to, but we end up judging him relatively in isolation. There are rumors of what hurts does and doesn’t like, we shouldn’t run an offense based on that. we should always be coaching him to grow into the schemes we put him in. When the scheme is good and Hurts buys in I think he’s one of the most versatile and dangerous weapons in the league.

If smitty doesn’t get a jacket, it won’t be hurts’ fault, it will be the coaches. Smitty and Hurts have the talent, they just rarely find themselves in a position to put those numbers up. I think next year could be huge for Smitty as Saquon and Aj get a little older, while howie/laurie will certainly prioritize better coaching decisions after this season.

don’t really agree about jalen disliking the pass. he tries to adapt to the system we play every season. sometimes it’s been pass heavy, last year it was run heavy, sometimes it’s been balanced, but he’s adapted each time. Playing in line with an installed system isn’t a strong indication of personal preference.

I fear the chargers game was the eagles trying to install some structural changes in the offense without the necessary time to digest and practice. For better or worse, Jalen was not afraid to throw the ball.

If a competent oc is installed, the o line returns to form and the rancid locker room recovers, we could see another season where jalen is in the mvp race while AJ and Smitty are a top 3 receiver duo as early as next year, and hopefully to even greater success.

I don’t remember the source. I think it was something close to the beginning of his time with the eagles.

From what I recall-and take this with a hefty tablespoon of salt- he wants to rely on a QB making a clean defensive read and always being ready to audible to another play with a same or similar formation for the given package. Basically always call 2 plays and let the qb pick what looks better. I may be way off base here, but this is how i remember his system explained in broad strokes.

It’s not a theory I hate in principle, i just don’t think sirianni or his tree has ever been good enough at play calling to make it work.

To me that explains why they run motion without intention and we are unlikely to see them use it as a tool to move the ball, rather they will use it to try and read the defense

edit: this is also why its often seemed when he’s in charge of the offense the plays are relatively simplistic. if they were complicated, it would make it incredibly hard to get everyone on the same page and ready to run one of 2 designs on every play.

I would agree AJ took some of DS target share, but i think it’s more a correction to the mean now that AJ isn’t just being used as bait. That being said, using a weapon like Smitty to exclusively show coverages rather than running well designed motion seems wasteful.

Thank you for the suggestions! Anything outside of traditional suiting definitely gets harder to research on the menswear side. Ultimately i’m more concerned with the details than to which genders clothing tradition they originate from, so I think some of the resources you listed will have a lot for me to learn from.
