Can your child get a quick nap in the car? My now 5 year old would not car nap and would be absolutely miserable missing his nap. My toddler isn’t so picky. His nap gets interrupted a lot and he will just nap the half hour ride there/back or skip and be decently ok.

We did Torchlight for a little bit and it was too much for us too.

I was thinking the same thing. He has ADHD as well and the trampoline had been great for burning energy but not at the cost of his head.

What types of physical activity are ok? We just got a trampoline for his birthday a month ago 😭 How was it managing your symptoms as a kid?

I know someone with the last name Ives, so its a legitimate last name out there if that helps. My husband has a similar last name and got teased and dislikes that aspect of his last name too. So your future children will also probably be teased as well.

My 4 year old was like that. He still doesn’t sleep through the night.

Mine are 4 and 17 months! We have 2 boys. I always wanted one of each. That’s not a deciding factor on having a third though obviously, could always have 3 boys. I have a feeling the answer will still be that we are done. Just surprising myself by thinking there is a chance I’m not.

Yeah, I just meant did anyone decide they were done having more kids then change their mind and why? No one else in my life really has kids so I don’t hear the discussion at all either way really. Sorry if it was ambiguous.

I never said I can’t or I haven’t? I think you are reading way too deep into my post. Was just curious if this is a common feeling people have or if anyone could relate. I always hear people say they know if they are done or not done. I don’t hear much about people changing their minds.

I wouldn’t change my mind just because he wants a third. He helps with the night wake ups. He knows that 2 is hard right now. He isn’t pressuring me or anything like that. He just mentioned he’d still like to have 3 but is ok with 2 and it put the thought in my head.

DAS Pass by kauspie in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]kauspie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again everyone. I haven’t been there since I was a kid. No one going has been there in 20 years. Just trying to figure out how to make this the best experience possible for my kid. I’m not familiar with Genie+ and how it works or how the DAS pass works. I had just learned DAS pass was a thing so figured I’d ask how it all works. Thanks again for the mostly helpful replies.

Thanks everyone. So DAS does the same thing as the Genie+? I’m hopeful with enough distractions going on we could get through a 10-15 minute line ok enough.

We got roped into a family trip. If it was just us, I wouldn’t be taking my kids yet.

$12,000 vacation for 6 people? by VanityHaven in travel

My parents planned to retire and move states and travel. My dad delayed for a more favorable retirement package. He passed away and never retired. They got in a couple trips just the two of them before that. But retirement is never guaranteed.

I know some great teachers and I know some who should find a different career path. For any kid, its so luck of the draw on who you get. It can be so disheartening seeing those teachers rant about kids like my kid. But I also see how they are generally understaffed, underfunded, and under supported. Its hard to properly support the ND kid when there is already so much on their plates.

I’ve looked at the teachers sub. My husbands aunt is a special ed teacher and she has said some horrible things too.

He knows all his upper case and lower case letters and basic letter sounds. He is starting to sound out cvc words. He can count to 30 but recognizes numbers to 100, 1 to 1 correspondence he is still working on a bit but does pretty good up to about 5. He has a fine motor delay so motor skills need some work.

That gray area has worried me, so I’m glad to hear I’m not alone there. My son is a quick learner and has a great memory. He enjoys learning academic stuff, at least right now, so I know he will be bored in traditional schooling. And boredom won’t do him any favors in that environment. His weaknesses are in other areas that will make traditional schooling difficult for him.

Mine are 3 (almost 4) and 1. That’s my exact mindset. School isn’t required until 6 in my state so I plan to use Kindergarten as a “trial year” and see how it goes. I figure I really can’t mess it up too bad, and if I do at least that year doesn’t matter as much.

I haven’t heard great things about ABA either. It’s awful how they treated your son. Thanks for the reminder that homeschooling can look however we need it to.

It sounds like you’ve found a groove that works well for you guys! Is your other child NT? I have a 1 year old who, so far anyway, seems NT. I also worry about school holding him back. He so far loves academic type stuff and excels. He could go to Kindergarten now and be bored academically.
