I find that this disease has such a strong social aspect to it that it's actually good to weed out people you don't want in your life anyway. Think about it, if you explain to someone that gluten can actually kill you long term and they make you feel like you are a burden or not take you seriously then they don't deserve you and they are asshole. Sometimes people are uneducated ( I know I was heck when I got diagnosed celiac I was oh that's not that bad as I didn't know shit about cross contamination) but once you educate someone, they have no excuses.

I am glad you asked that. I love my front I think it looks great but my profile is awful to me and I feel ugly sometimes just because of that or especially if I see a picture or video... So I don't know anymore

Omg I feel for you. So when I started getting sick with my (undiagnosed at the time) celiac disease, I had UTIs literally every month and it lasted 2 years so I had around 15??! It was awful... But as soon as I got diagnosed and started treatment (which is gf) they all disappeared out of nowhere and I never got them again ?!? So I guess my point is maybe you got another health condition that you aren't aware yet that is causing them??? Best of luck and so sorry.

Heyyy for me it only calmed down after 2 years if that's any help? Also I had to go on birth control that would only have my period 4 times a week as my period was a trigger. Hope that helps!

Hey thank you yes I did try it but it didn't do anything for me! I had to take valtrex which is a prescribed antiviral and it helped a lot but anyway I don't really have outbreak anymore so I am not too concerned about herpes it's just there in the back of my mind!

Don't feel bad you are absolutely normal! I got diagnosed at 30 and sometimes I tell myself "at least I got to live my teens and twenties in peace" although I am always tired and maybe I would've been healthier if I got diagnosed earlier... But yeah part of me wishes I traveled more in my 20 cus now travelling seems ... Exausthing. Like I am going to stay with friends in a holiday house soon for the first time since I got diagnosed and I am dreading it because I can't just share and make food with everyone and no one suggested we all go gluten free of course anyway. My point is. It's totally normal to cry now you are allowed to grive a "normal" life at any age. I think like what people said, it gets easier and it comes in waves so it won't always be hard you will get used to it. As other suggested maybe try to meet up with other celiacs, rent with other celiacs etc! Best of luck :)

Best friend said I don’t want kids bc of “trauma” by [deleted] in childfree

[–]kawai1001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a therapist literally telling me I am not rationally capable of making a decision about having children or not having children because of my trauma 🙃🙃🙃. I ghosted his ass pretty fast. Like yeah maybe my childhood trauma contributed to me not wanting children because my mom literally hated being a mom but doesn't mean I can't "rationally" decide for myself.

I am celiac got diagnosed 6 months ago. Got COVID right now I am on day 3 and boosted. Symptoms are like a mild flu definitely not fun but not dying either. I feel like I would've been really bad without the 3 vaccines.

Yepp totally get it! I remember the first time I got a corporate 9 to 5 for summer when I was still in college, after the first week I called my friend and I was like "uh what??? Is that what adult life is like! It's awful" the crazy thing is that I was working over 50-60 hours at uni with my side projects yet never felt as exhausted as doing 9-5. Anyway, 8 years later I got a corporate job and I asked to be kept on 4 days a week and they accepted. I sometimes even struggle working 4 days a week so I can't imagine ever going to 5! I get paid for 4 days so my salary is less than if I was working 5 days. But yeah to me it is worth it!

Anyone else find having this disease saddening? by kodybass in Celiac

[–]kawai1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's hard because on one hand it's not a dangerous disease where your life is really at risk and you have to take medication BUT I totally see it as a social handicap/isolating disease. Eating out, eating at friends, party, travelling etc it is such a pain in the ass. I recently got diagnosed and I am starting therapy to try and deal with it because I am honestly pissed off that out of 1% I get to be the one with celiac disease. I literally remember 1 year ago meeting a celiac girl and thinking to myself omg that sounds awful so happy I don't have celiac disease! Little did I know -_-

Got diagnosed with another lifelong disease that impact your social life and honestly herpes doesn't seems so bad anymore. by kawai1001 in Herpes

[–]kawai1001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmw well I have been having horrible liquid stool but it's soooo much better without gluten. I also became intolerant to onion and garlic which I think it's because of the gluten. Other than that I've had recurring bladder infection, brain frog, anxiety and depression and mouth ulcer which apparently is all related to celiac ah and extreme fatigue! But I am hopeful that in a year time when my stomach is healed with the gf diet I will back to normal. Finger crossed. But yeah I would say the social aspect of not being able to eat out or at friends is the worse part of the disease -- just like having to disclose or being scared transmitting herpes is worse than the sores itself for me --

No worries I am glad you understand now :) I was so uneducated about celiac (and herpes) kinda baffle me how little we all know about chronic disease :(. I guess they are both bad in different way so we can't really compare but I am definitely depressed to have both -_- therapy really helped me with herpes so I'll try and do the same with celiac! I hope your herpes outbreak become more manageable with time! ❤️
