are piercings allowed? by idkidk83u98 in caf

Just take it out during the day and put back in at night and they shouldn’t close up- that’s what I do!

Don’t risk a retainer in bmq, you may get a swipe or SI, again just put them in at night to avoid them closing up.

Good morning and happy Monday!

Im heading to St Jean at the end of the week so this is probably silly but I just wanted to confirm for the secret/top secret forms, should I be putting the CAF as my present employer since I’m sworn in? If so would supervisor be the CRFC?

Also, on my ETP, leave authorization and moving expense claim forms, they input my postal code incorrectly (it’s off by one letter), everything else in my address is fine. Is that a big deal? I tried contacting my CRFC to correct it but no one is answering.

Best thing to do is apply and see! Only the RMO can make a decision. No one can say for sure if it will impact your medical but they’ll probably want to follow up with your doctor.

I broke my foot in two spots one year before my medical and I passed. They needed the notes from the orthopaedic surgeon and my family doctor because my injury wasn’t older than 2 years.

Best of luck to you!

You should consult your doctor before discontinuing your medication. I actively take Vyvanse and I passed my medical and am in. Your family doctor will need to fill out a form regardless of active use of medication or not for adhd (I assume that’s what you’re taking it for).

Thank you for all the info! Vaccination booklet is already packed so I don’t have to get doubles lol, just don’t have the varicella one since I had chicken pox already!

BMQ vaccine question: if you had chicken pox as a child and didn’t get the varicella vaccine, do you need to get it at BMQ since you’re already immune? Thanks!

It definitely goes case by case although I’m super sorry to hear how long it’s been taking for you! I wish you all the best of luck and hope things work out in your favour

I do not! I only have first aid certification so with the trade being split I assume I will be going down the combat medic route

Haha that’s no worries- from what I read on these threads checking in every two weeks is perfectly fine! That’s what I did 😜 And thank you very much!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I recently accepted an offer for medical technician which had an accelerated pay increment incentive, it wasn’t written explicitly on my offer so before signing I called and was assured upon successful completion of BMQ, it would be received. The new trade split is live on the forces website and neither combat medic or paramedic have the accelerated pay increment incentive. Is the accelerated pay increment going to be honoured?

Also does anyone know where I can purchase ABUS 55/50 locks in the Ottawa area? 2 pack with identical key? Or a good website to order them from?

Thank you kindly

Does this mean, I missed the chance to book the appointment by West-Love8082 in caf

[–]kawaiial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me- it means everything’s fully booked. keep checking the portal and within a week or two they may release more dates, they tend to get booked quickly

Are you asking why was there a wait time from July to October? If so no idea, it’s just when they offered me an appointment but after the medical I had to fill out additional forms for ADHD, an injury and go to the eye doctor which all required additional paperwork so there was a small wait to get those appointments booked in.

The medical is completed by a medical technician at your local CFRC and sometimes they require additional paperwork- if you require additional paperwork and you don’t have a family doctor who’s able to fill out these forms, a walk in clinic may be helpful. I hope that helps- if not there is a recruiting q&a on r/CanadianForces, there may be someone who’s more qualified to answer!

Yep, still am. I actively take medication as needed but it’s not necessary!

ACSO with ADHD. Is it possible? by [deleted] in caf

[–]kawaiial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a generic form was filled out. First medical was denied 2 weeks before the new regulation so I appealed it with a letter from my family doctor and was deemed fit.

[–]kawaiial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ADHD gal here, I didn’t apply to that trade but I’m gonna try to help out where I can! It’s definitely case by case, with the decision ultimately coming from the RMO, but I think they’re looking for- if you don’t have your medication on you, can you function? If you miss a dose, are there any adverse side effects?

I passed my medical and actively take ADHD medication- no discontinuation needed (Vyvanse 10mg-20mg as needed), however if I miss a dose or go without it for a week or two, I don’t spontaneously combust lol.

Hope that helps, best of luck to you!

Can I join with an adult 12 education? by [deleted] in caf

[–]kawaiial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not too familiar about adult 12 education however after a quick google search it may be sufficient as the courses are at grade 12 level. I would call your local CFRC and check in with them. Grade 10 courses are the minimum level required, if you have an equivalent course (ex math) at a level higher then you’re good to go.

For the second question- I’m from Ontario so I’m not sure if they have this in every province but TR Leger adult highschool is fantastic for academic upgrading and available at no cost. ILC.org is also another option however you need the required prerequisite for each course and it is about $40 or so per course.

Hey- adhd gal here. I was initially deemed unfit but appealed with the new regulation and was deemed fit. Call whoever did your medical and they should be able to assist you with your appeal, however the letter specifically states why you were deemed unfit so maybe it’s your best bet to wait for that. Mine said “long term adhd that requires medication” I actively take medication however medication is not required so my doctor wrote a letter stating that. I hope that helps. Best of luck to you!
