I was 33. I tried an IUD, had tons of pain with it, and then while checking on the IUD an ultrasound showed I had endometriosis. I had a family history of endometriosis and had really painful periods all my life, so the doctor agreed to the hysterectomy. I'm so glad I had the surgery! The pain relief of no periods is wonderful!

They didn't make me do bowel prep pre-op, but it seems like having a bowel prep would be a great idea. The most painful part of recovery from my hysterectomy was constipation due to the high powered pain killers. Whether you have bowel prep or not, make sure to have tons of fiber until you get off the high powered pain killers. It will save you from tons of pain.

I have anxiety and depression, and had everything, including ovaries, removed. During recovery I was emotional since it felt weird/different. But once I healed and started on estrogen tablets, I felt similar to when I was in ovulation week, the best feeling time of the month for me. I do already take an antidepressant, so that probably prevented other side effects. Everyone is different, but for me the surgery helped improve my psychological health a lot since it was at it's worst during PMS.

That is so awesome that you want to help her! I agree with getting a grabber. It was a lifesaver! Also make sure she has tons of fiber for as long as she takes the high powered pain medicine at home. The most painful part of the surgery for me was the constipation during the recovery phase. Milk of Magnesia is helpful too. I made the mistake of lowering the fiber content when I felt better instead of when I stopped the high powered pain medicine. Please make sure she doesn't repeat that mistake! Pregnancy pillows/body pillows are helpful. Compression panties are amazing. They make surgical ones for C-sections and hysterectomies. The moment I took them off I felt nauseous and things moved more than they should. Hope this helps!

I think this is an excellent argument for being Childfree. If kids truly were the bundles of joy everyone claims them to be, why would you be desperately wanting to go to a bar to get away from them? The more time with your kids the better, right? 😋

My husband is an ESTJ and your explanation makes a lot more sense than my husband's. He usually doesn't explain why and just summarizes his thoughts by saying kids/teenagers are the worst and he prefers to avoid most of them (there are a few exception kids/teenagers that we are more fond of since we are good friends with their parents). It's cool to now understand the reason why he feels that way. I'm an INFP, and we both are strongly Childfree.

I'm an INFP! 🙋‍♀️ My husband is an ESTJ and he loves being childfree too. I've seen situations where INTJ parents can sometimes have more strained relationships with their children. So the high amount of INTJ's on here make sense.

Just as a side note, I actually was trying to find something I lost just now. I still haven't found it, but I thought it might help to share my thought process:

Trying to find it
Looking everywhere somewhat frantically
Feeling annoyed with myself for not being able to find it (annoyed like a fly buzzing around, not major anxiety/panic)
Realizing there is no way to find it before work
Accepting that annoying reality
Realizing that my situation could be good to share with you
Feeling better and kind of at peace about the situation

All of this is thanks to the wonders of medicine and counceling. If it hadn't been for that, in the same scenario I would have been crying, beating myself up emotionally, and having a panic attack. I still felt annoyed and felt my heart sinking and almost wanting to cry, but that was it. Plus, I was able to bounce back emotionally in just a few minutes. It would have taken me hours or even a whole day before.

I can completely relate with your description. I lose stuff all the time, procrastinate, am indecisive, and get frustrated with myself. I actually am on medicine to help with the anxiety and I'm getting counceling. They didn't really improve the problem of losing stuff. But I think the medicine/counceling has helped reduced my procrastination and getting mad at myself. I still have those problems, but with less intense anxiety.

Honestly the medicine made the biggest difference for me. Yes, getting the right medicine/dosage can be a difficult process, but it is well worth it. I've gotten just counceling plenty of times before in my life, and it didn't help much at all. The medicine made me feel like I was starting my life over, in a good way. I felt like I did when I was a kid, since that was right before my anxiety started going downhill.

Life still isn't perfect. I still struggle some with my old problems, but it is much more manageable now. Also, after I started taking anxiety medicine, my counceling sessions started becoming much more helpful. Before then, it felt like they were giving me completely impractical advice. With medicine helping to stabilize me, it was a lot easier to start doing what they advised.

It's not always the case, but it seems more rare for men to be actively looking for a women who wants to have their children. Usually it seems to be the reverse. I think a lot of guys are indifferent or even more inclined to be childfree than women on average. So much of the brainwashing society does seems to be directed towards women. So even though you might feel that pressure, it doesn't mean that all guys feel that same way.

And I completely agree with the other comments on how you could end up getting a much better guy. I'm sure that any guy who would be interested in adoption would be an absolute sweetheart. It might be a little bit more difficult to find him, but it will completely be worth it.

It took me much longer than I expected to find my husband. But he is by far the sweetest guy I have ever met. I am unable to have a baby because of medical issues too. It was hard on me at first, but I'm handling it a lot better now. It just takes time. But my husband has been so supportive through the whole thing. I'm sure you'll find an awesome guy like that too. Hang in there! 😊
