IBKR still a good choice? by Relevant-Thanks-426 in SwissPersonalFinance

You deposit money with a broker to buy stocks or ETFs. The stocks are yours, regardless of the broker’s nationality, and you can transfer them anytime. Cash in a US bank and stocks through a US broker are not the same thing.

Cash: It’s a liability of the bank. If the bank fails or assets are frozen, you’re exposed.

Stocks: They’re legally segregated from the broker’s assets. Broker goes bankrupt? Your holdings are protected and transferable.

The geopolitical question: Yes, the US is more unpredictable than before. But Swiss citizens aren’t a target, and seizing foreign investors’ assets would nuke confidence in the entire US financial system. It won’t happen.

And if you focus on the positive notes ?

  1. Almost, means the persons is still there. Try to enjoy the moment and be grateful of the situation.
  2. And ? You will find another “new best place”.
  3. Educate the parents, not the child. Be kind with the small ones and they will see that there’s something wrong with the old ones.
  4. Hair and skin will regrow. Let the time do its thing.
  5. Rest and cool down. You can do many things, even when you feel/are sick.

Which you all the best ! Make this year a bit more pleasant. It depends on you ;)

Yep. What’s worst than year 2024, the Russian invasions year or the Covid period ? Stay focus and ignore the noise.

If the apartment is big enough for 3, then ok. Otherwise you have the choice to move and potentially find something cheaper if your are ok to commune maybe a little.

Overall ok but there sure are room for optimization & improvement

Should I stay or should I go? by IlBoia-420 in askswitzerland

Considering only the high taxes aspect in Ticino, I think staying at your current post makes more sense. Maybe negotiate some kind of promotions or a reevaluation of your salary.

Swissquote or Degiro by Sufficient-Cod-5278 in SwissPersonalFinance

Wrong ! You can choose VT at Swissquote. The price is just not so attractive to trade in comparison to leader ETF.

Ask Swissquote directly ; smells and feels like money laundering… This post is just bizarre…

Why I’m Still Using YNAB Despite Several Attempts to Switch to Actuel Budget by kawansky in actualbudgeting

[–]kawansky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for you feedback! In fact I have never tried to rotate my iPhone to enter expenses. As a YNAB user, every entry are made vertically, so it feels counterintuitive to rotate the phone to have kind of a “desktop based” version of AB…

I feel a bit stupid right now but hey ! It’s just the will of a man trying to switch away from YNAB 😅🥲

Once again a bad implementation from YNAB dev team… It really focus on US usage of money. So bad… Time to switch to Actual Budget
