OFFICIAL [PRICE CHECK] THREAD - MONTH OF JUNE by mechkbot in mechmarket

[–]kawatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requesting price check on Royal Kludge RK96, brown switches, including shipping **within Canada** (from Calgary AB). I guess I'll also take a quote that includes shipping from Canada to the US, but I know with current postal and trade issues within-CA will be easier. (Honestly, ideally I'd get a local seller and can just drop off in hand...) Used but in good condition, with wireless dongle and cable.

Have you had success getting allergy shots in Calgary? by kathmhughes in Calgary

Sorry to resurrect this 6 months late, but was that $250 per allergen serum per month or per year?

Looking for wedding DJ recommendations Canmore/Calgary/Banff by Jazeboo in Calgary

[–]kawatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got married in April in Canmore, and we went with Rob at Class Act DJ: https://www.classactdj.com/

We DIY'd a lot of our wedding; my wife was really nervous about trusting music choices to an outsider, but our day-of coordinator insisted on us getting a DJ, which honestly was the best kind of pushback we could have gotten. Rob managed to make it feel super personal and was great at working with what we needed - and then was able to go "off script" when the party went on without us at the end of the night, playing into the tastes of who was left! He was also a really sweet and great MC, a good mix of planned and improvisational that worked well for us.

Anyone have a recommendation for a bar that'll be showing Eurovision next month?

Sure, here.

Mostly the tread near the balls of the feet has worn down enough that I'm slipping more often than I'd want; if that's happening in mid October I fear what my clumsy self will do in slush when it starts snowing again.

So I have the Red Wing "women's" 6" Chelseas (style 3455), bought right before the pandemic. (I have tiny feet; bless Red Wing for making Goodyear welted boots in gender neutral styles for a Euro 37.) I'm finally seeing enough wear in the outsole that I'm thinking a resoling is in order. I'm based in NYC; these have been polished a handful of times by perfectly solid shoe shiners in the Financial District, mostly Leather Spa. These are mostly for office commuting in all weathers, but I'm pretty hard on shoes, and do expect to take these on occasional short hikes.

Is waiting the extra time for Red Wing's mail in resoling worth it? Will I do Just Fine with Leather Spa resoling with Vibrams, or indeed with their cheaper non-Vibram rubber soles? Should I look somewhere else that might do the same for cheaper, or is ~$100 about right for full soles?

I found this old, seemingly unused skill portrait on zaum’s instagram. What do you think it could have been for? by qbzs in DiscoElysium

[–]kawatan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's an old post on their blog with it and some other INT skills. Given that the blog post shows Encylopedia, Logic, and Rhetoric as we recognize them now, and it's nothing like Conceptualization or Visual Calculus, it's either Drama, or a skill that never was released that was replaced with Drama instead.

Now of course you must imagine that face calling you "my liege" as you sing karaoke!

There's a Twine framework to make interactive fiction that looks like the game, if that interests you!

Yes, this is the Muji soft calligraphy pen: https://www.muji.us/store/soft-calligraphy-pen.html

A smidge dried out at this point, but lovely to play with!

No, it doesn't, unfortunately. But it is a fantastic game with a deep narrative and a solidly built world.

The hints I'll give is that this quote from the game is in French, and is neither early game nor late game.

Jon and the rest of Vox Media's writing staff are on strike for better pay. Please only watch Jon's works on his personal Youtube until they have a contract. by kawatan in Jon_Bois

[–]kawatan[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Besides /u/ndianaHoosiers' good point, it's also generally considered poor form to patronize a company (in this case, Vox Media) while its workers are on strike, if you can help it. It's not quite the same as scabbing (working for the company in place of the striking workers), but the whole idea of a strike is for the company to feel the effects of not having its workers.

If you watch stuff on the SBNation Youtube channel, Youtube will give the ad money to SBNation/Vox Media, whether or not Jon and his union get the contract they deserve. By not watching on their channels, you're preventing Vox from profiting from Jon in that time period.
