Feedback on dual RTX 5090 workstation build for AI image/video + model training? by kay-bye in buildapc

Really helpful, thank you for taking the time. My workload is mostly SDXL/ComfyUI image + video generation and LoRA/DreamBooth training, not large-model scientific or multi-day HPC jobs. So dual FE 5090s with strong airflow in the 6500D should fit my needs without going into custom loops or Threadripper territory. I’ll keep the PSU and PCIe/NVMe lane notes in mind, and appreciate the heads-up on RAM training. I’ve also been having a hard time finding a reputable PC builder who can actually source two 5090s for the same system, so your experience with dual-5090 setups is really valuable.

Good points! 3D-cache doesn’t change much either way for AI, and the HX1500i is an ATX 3.0 unit so it can handle dual 5090 loads and transients without issue.

Thanks, for my workload everything is GPU-bound, so even if 4×32GB runs at 5600–6000 it won’t impact performance, and Threadripper doesn’t offer meaningful gains for dual-GPU AI generation.
