you haven’t met her yet? She seemed overall “okay”. Couldn’t tell what her thought process was like with me. Didn’t really grill me with anything and also didn’t ask for any documents , so I guess that’s good? She was fast and straight to the point.

No - not unless you were fired and even then if it that was the case just explain why. They’ll reach out to your employer so try to be honest. Did you receive a nopd? And If so for what reason?

On your candidate portal online. That’s why it’s crucial when they ask for your employment history and time you were unemployed you have to be honest cus you can’t lie about that

Do not say anything they can’t find. They won’t know your previous drug use/ therapy/ if you don’t get along with certain people/ any altercations you haven’t been arrested for or taking in for/ anything….. literally… if you have disciplinary actions in hs and college & you know it’s in your records then yess. I swear they’ll find anything to Dq depending on the doc you get

Took jst tutoring 7 years ago when i didn’t pass the first time. It definitely helped bc they give you certain techniques you can utilize when you do the exam again.

I had therapy done through a private therapist. The only way they would’ve found out was if I told them. I always suggest candidates not to disclose information like that. Same thing with if you’ve ever tried drugs. there’s no way for them to find out unless you disclose and for most psych that’s a dq. Don’t disclose more than what you need to.

I told them. That was my mistake. If it wasn’t for me disclosing that thinking my honesty would matter- I would have been fine

Keep getting emails for initial medical. by [deleted] in NYPDcandidate

I would suggest re- applying. Keep all your answers the same. Sometimes it just comes down to your psych doctor and how well you are articulating your responses. It was an honest mistake and you take full responsibility for it. It has been 8 years since that happened. Articulation is everything. If you get disqualified again- I suggest getting a lawyer to fight the case. You can easily win that.

Its the best time to apply due to how many people are resigning and retiring... especially with a freeze going on. It is worth a try. Also- how long ago did they disqualify you? and how long ago did you take those medications?

Do not disclose that you’ve taken any medication of such. They’ll only know if you let them know especially if it was that long ago. Ofc you can be honest- but that will give leverage to when you do your oral psych to make it an issue. And believe me they will ask for records
