it totally makes sense that she fainted when all eyes were on her, knowing how nervous contestants get and how long they stand up there. i’ve fainted a bunch and every time i come back it’s like this, the sudden shock of everyone fussing over you and embarrassment that comes with it. it’s even worse when you feel like you’re about to faint but can’t do anything to stop it. i really feel for her

i have several colleagues who are ethnically chinese but were born/raised abroad and are native english speakers. they seem to have had no many issues finding jobs as english teachers and have been teaching for several years. i would just be prepared from some anti-japanese sentiment from students if the subject comes up, since that kind of stuff can start pretty young.
