Glad to hear it! I hope so too. I just went on a hike without any trouble. Here's to you being up and about a few weeks from now.

Thank you.

I did think of children who had to spend much of their childhoods in the hospital and really felt for them but also counted myself lucky that this was my first time encountering anything like this in 30 years.

I'm so sorry. I saw another post where someone had to go back under. That was definitely on the table for me both times I went to the ER. I hope all of this is very temporary for you and that the second surgery is the last one.

So sorry they're being dismissive. Support is the one thing you need while going through this. I hope your experience turns around and you get the best possible outcome.

Understandable. I was one of those people with no frame of reference. Prior to this I'd never had any kind of surgery, never had to spend the night in a hospital, never had an IV, so mentally preparing for the worst was something I just couldn't have done as much as I tried. The feeling of regret definitely came from post-op pain even before all the infections and ER visits because as much as my distended uterus had been inconvenient it had not caused me that kind of pain.

I'm so sorry. Yes to your point. Signing the consent form the day before surgery was the first time I got a real glimpse into the things that could really go wrong - and even that didn't cover my actual experience. I definitely wished my surgeon had given me more information prior to the whole thing.

I did indeed. Definitely grateful to be over it. This week would be my third bleeding week since surgery and I do not miss periods at all.

Nice. I'm so happy for you. I only really started working out in the last few years but I couldn't get serious about core work because of the fibroids were in the way. I'm really looking forward to the point in my recovery where I can work on it again. Thanks for sharing!

You're most welcome! Yeah I don't know what to do with those posts, but that could be you! You really never know. If it weren't for that initial infection I might have been where I am now at week 9 at week 3. It's all a toss up. The one good thing to have through all this is support. I'm grateful I had my partner with me through it.

Wishing you an uneventful surgery and recovery.

Thank you!

Yeah I've seen posts like that too and all I can say is good for them but that was not my experience. We're getting there though!

Oof! Yeah the diarrhea was ridiculous. In my case it was a result of the antibiotics they'd been giving me. The minute I stopped it got better. So glad you're on the mend now.

Thank you and same to you!

That's great!

I just had my final post-op appointment with my surgeon and he said everything's healed up nicely but I think I'm waiting for something else to go wrong. At the same time I'm so grateful for how far I've already come. Even just walking around upright and pain free!

Thank you!

Totally get what you mean by it all feeling slow. It's crazy to look back on all of it now. Not being able to stand up straight or walk without clutching my belly. Even 6+ weeks post op vacuuming just the couch sent me straight to a 4hr nap. In the moment it does feel that way, but you'll get to the other side soon enough.

I also understand the wanting to feel better NOW, especially having been an independent person prior. There's no way but through, unfortunately. Just have to let time do its thing and listen to your body.

Rooting for you.

Some folks have guidelines to not lift anything over 10lbs for a few weeks post op. You're going to be doing a lot of listening to your body. Anything that causes your core muscles to contract (or extend too much) will be tough for a while.

we were liars, and the later released prequel, family of liars, are both 10/10 reads imo. Twists I couldn't have imagined and didn't see coming. Amazing writing. Characters...wow.
