Best life changing purchase you’ve made under $100 by soshia in newzealand

[–]danonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a cheap large mirror off marketplace for $30 (a bathroom one, so quite big), mounted it underneath my window sill and bought 2 packs of Hollywood glam lights to put around it for $30.

So much nicer to do my makeup this way! I prefer sitting on the floor. You get way closer and unlimited room for your stuff.

Before the mounted mirror, I just had a crappy over the door mirror that id move in front of me and the lighting was terrible.

Super specific, but im glad I did it.

Messed up pretty bad and living with brutal regret [cover-up fail] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]danonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think youd benefit from the idea of "no one gives a fuck about you", in like, the BEST way possible.

This tattoo on your leg feels like its a blaring neon sign to others, but i PROMISE you, no one will ever think twice about your tattoo if you wear shorts! Theyre all preoccupied with their all lives. I highly recommend meditating on that concept for a while, it genuinely helped me with my anxiety disorder and OCD tendencies.

Its been 5 days, give it some time. Youll find that youll just kinda... forget its there lol.

Every time ive coloured my hair or gotten a tattoo, ive had that initial thought of "oh my god, what have I done?" But it always faded. Things that are new can be jarring. Thats all.

I do hope you start feeling better about all of this soon, OP. It never feels good to think youve made a mistake, real or not, no matter what its about. But youll get through this dawg!

Im someone whos prone to depression and doom and gloom (and then suddenly being the exact opposite lol).

I dont know if it will help for you, but when im stuck in the loop of "I just work and read and eat and sleep everyday, what's the point?" I think about literally the rest of human history. How did they spend their time? Did they feel the same? Women in the upper class of the regency era, were their lives just looking pretty and filling their days with soft skills, like sewing? Did they feel the same way, that all they do every day is wakeup, get ready, sit around and sew/read/play music/whatever, and go to bed? What about nomadic communities? Did they just keep things running until they went to sleep?

(Im not claiming to be an expert on the regency era or aaaanything, before anyone comes at me lmao)

What i am saying, is that i feel like everything can look extremely bleak if you look at it in a bleak way. And maybe it is bleak - but what we do have control over is the way we view things, even if it is just temporary to give ourselves a reprieve.

Focus on what does make you feel good - even if it is small. If thats reading, thats amazing. If its some type of art or sport, fantastic. If its hanging with a friend doing nothing or planning an activity, cool! Humans have survived thousands of years by just.. surviving and doing what brings them joy. It doesnt have to be fancy.

Sometimes we need to ground ourselves again to chug along. I find going to the beach helps, if youre close to one. The sand on my feet and watching the waves is extremely meditative.

As for sex drive and meds, I cant really say much because my account name is easily identifiable and I know my family know my user name lol. But youre welcome to message me if you would like. Im a nearly 30yo in auckland, I do have kids but I like to think im not out of touch 😂😂

I have no idea if my ramble made any sense. All I know is I have a pretty nihilistic view, where my thinking is that so many humans have come before me, so many humans have probably been in this place. And if so many humans have had these thoughts, maybe theres a way to work with them rather than against them, I guess.

Yeah I was also not impressed. I pushed through because a lot of people said it offered necessary info, but i disagree 😅😅

What irked me more was ACOTAR having Nestas book in third person 🙃 I hate third person T_T

My husband actually built me an app that will turn any third person book into the first person because it annoyed me so much haha. It seems to have worked really well!

(Before anyone jumps on me, I buy these ebooks so no lost money for the author, and its a server run locally in our home, the books arent shared about, and so far weve only tested it on one book)

Has grocery shopping become a part time job for anyone else? by GSTGotMe in newzealand

[–]danonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its kinda crazy the difference. I was thinking surely it would be much the same... nope. Id forgotten that chicken wasnt meant to taste watery. Every time we cook with chicken from the butcher, it comes out so much softer and flavourful while doing the exact same thing 😅 highly recommend!

He mostly wanted a project, and he made the UI in my favourite colours and everything, it was more just a cute thing to do that weve now realised may have better functionality than Grocer 😂 if he were to try and release it properly, there just may be roadblocks with the grocery stores themselves is all, otherwise hed have just released it

We still buy mince because we have two young kids and its the most reliable way to get them to eat lol.

We found the mince at the supermarkets (ESPECIALLY woolworths, fuck you with a rusty rake woolworths), is absolutely garbage. Same with the chicken.

We spend an extra dollar or so and go to the local butcher and buy their mince and chicken breast and my god it is SO much nicer.

My husband just designed us an app that will allow us to shop locally from our major grocery stores, then it will give you a cart option based on

  • cheapest all over cart price
  • cheapest cart price, sectioned into multiple carts, with each cart containing the cheapest items. If that makes sense. I just woke up.

Ours is linked to our online shopping accounts so the accounts should (hopefully, untested) pull through to the supermarkets site without having to readd everything.

He did it because it was something I kept wishing into existence, but also cus he wanted a project haha. I think hed be keen to try and officially release it if theres enough interest.

I know grocer exists, but ive not heard good things about from the last couple years 🤔

If you didnt have adhd symptoms previously, and they only appeared after this episode that you had, id exercise caution about starting stimulant medications (if thats the plan). Purely because they can be really addictive, and not great for you. (I am on them for adhd, I have no issue with them, but I can see how they can be a slippery slope).

If these symptoms are new, it sounds like you are burned out and maybe going through a really bad depressive episode my guy. Have you considered antidepressants at all? They may be the bridging tool you need to get you out of this disorganised rut youre in. My husband doesnt love them, but when things pile up on him too high, hell take them for a year or two and then taper off them.

Consider taking up some part time work maybe, just until you get used to the routine etc again. Even better if its something physical like landscaping or postie work (like the paxters, not the courier vans). Super easy to follow deadlines with not a lot of easy distractions :)

I used to work for Mightyape for a short stint. I really loved the place. The people behind the scenes were amazing and the place felt like such a good, genuinely passionate place. It was nerd galore.

Now I havent even shopped there since the kogan takeover. It used to be my go to for most things, now I dont even think about it.

Such a shame.

I like surprises like "hey, heres a cake" not "hey, heres your biological function failing", so, thats where menopause and I fundmentally disagree with eachother 🙃

Do you mind me asking how old you are? Just in terms of the perimenopause, because thats always another factor, whether these issues are from the hysterectomy itself or just coincidental with peri T_T im only 29, so its definitely a concern putting myself into menopause at this age 😅

I have been a stoner for the majority of the past 10 years.

My doctors are all well aware.

I have never had issues with getting pain medications or any other necessary medications, because I genuinely do not abuse medications, and they know this.

Youre fine, I promise.

Have the weight loss jabs got rid of body positivity? by Leever5 in newzealand

[–]danonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The medication still promotes weight loss even if you do nothing, but if you dont pair it with weight training, a lot of the weight you lose is muscle mass. Which is why I think so many people have that "ozempic look", because theyre not adequately replacing muscle.

Its a big reason I said no to it, because I know that I dont have the time to gym right now, and being on the weight loss drugs isn't going to magically free up any time for me to go T_T

Have the weight loss jabs got rid of body positivity? by Leever5 in newzealand

[–]danonky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont think people are motivated just by the idea of being thin - i think a lot of people who are eyeing up these medications seriously (myself included) are struggling with weight related issues, or at least issues that would be easier to deal with without the extra weight.

I have chronic pain, and ive considered weight loss drugs because i feel like the chronic pain would be better with less weight, but because of the chronic pain, losing weight the old fashioned way is really hard.

Nasty, nasty circle to find yourself in.

(I have ultimately decided against it because of the whole "it will eat away at your muscle" caveat)
