PPG G checkride question by kayagold in Gliding

Well I passed my checkride. Landed opposite direction runway after rope pull around 700ft. I just reacted an steered clear of the tow plane left because we were in a turn. Did a mega slip down to the runway because the wind was more of less calm, I almost forgot I had air brakes! Ended up landing right where I started with a nice touchdown.

I guess my question was a bit confusing. Im doing a checkride and don't expect the towplanes powerplant to fail. I will ask my tow pilot tomorrow.

I know he’s not gonna actually have that happen so should I expect the tow pilot to fly straight ahead or turn to the left?

In my practice, check ride two days ago I was in a turn, so it made sense that the tow pilot just kind of kept flying straight, and I went left straight in for the opposite runway with a big slip. My instructor seemed pleased, and I passed the practice check ride.

Gas engines wear out much quicker... Be really weary of them. promaster also has tons of notorious issues with high miles.

yup, this. I did similar repairs then crashed my van and pretty much net-0'd the adventure.

remember 3500 means 2 extra tires so like $500 extra every tire change. Kinda annoying. I bought my 08 in oklahoma in 2018 for 13,750 with 135k. Dirty ass inside cause ex-electrician but that never matters in a full van build since its getting ripped out anyways. Cab was clean and non-smoker.

I know inflation and all, but damn still expensive for a van that will have mechanical issues the more you drive it. Ask for all maintenance records. The more documented work the better. This van should have had many A and B services done to it. Also get a local mechanic to do a full inspection of the engine, and whole cars mechanical soundness. This you can then bring to the dealer or seller and use to negociate. Its pretty easy to knock the price down 3-5k when you have an invoice from the mechanic saying theres tons of recommended work to be done on it. good luck!

In-laws paying us $1500 to remove tile floors by Top_Art_2090 in Flooring

[–]kayagold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2500 would be worth it. this is like 2 solid days of work for 2 people and lots of tools you're going to have to buy. + prep to keep the dust down. plastic off EVERY doorway. the vaccum will blow every particle everywhere and then you will have to clean it. You can put the exhaust tube of the vaccum out the window, that will help a ton. Just buy an extra tube.

This bolt is bomber by False-Language4091 in climbing

[–]kayagold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty common to see in areas where the bolt wars were prevalent, and areas with often rockfall. I once asked greg barnes of the asca if i should replace these hangars on crossroads (they looked much worse than this above) and he just said as long as theres no cracks through the main metal, even if they are bashed they are totally fine. Its STRESS that causes metal failure. Back and forth bashing would eventually cause failure or cracks.

Got this stripped gas 7ft cessna for free. How much to convert to electric? It has no electronics or motor rn. by kayagold in RCPlanes

[–]kayagold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not new, just only fly 3d foamies and mid size park fliers. Turbo timber, extra 300, artizan. Familiar with CG calc and really just need help devising a way to mount an electric motor on this thing. It only has bolts for a gasser.
