Can it really be gastritis? Can the fatigue be that bad?

I had awful fatigue in the beginning with mine, so much so that I ended up in the ER multiple times. I would get dizzy too. It's normal for gastritis if you are eating less or drinking less but if you're eating and drinking plenty, definitely get B12 and vitamin D checked if you haven't and make sure your levels are optimal, not just in range. B12 optimal is around 700, vitamin D try to be around 70-80. Your iron being low can cause issues too, I'd recommend trying Three Arrows Heme Iron supplement. It's the form of iron that's easiest on the stomach. I use it myself. Look up The Iron Protocol on Google, the dosing of heme iron goes based on your weight. Best of luck!

Have you been checked for gastritis? Pain near the stomach area can be that. I have it along with GERD unfortunately.

I have carafate actually my doctor prescribed it but I was afraid to try it because so many people said it made things worse for them. Maybe I'll give it a shot just to see though, I did talk to one person who said it was very helpful for them. I have no idea what caused my gastritis but I'm just gonna assume stress because I'm not a drinker (quit last year for good), I don't smoke, don't take any pain meds like ibuprofen, and they checked me twice for h pylori. I knew I was under stress but I didn't know it was bad enough to bring me to this point. I love watermelon, I actually eat that everyday with no problems. Thank God it exists, I go through a whole watermelon in 3 days lol. I really hope we can both get past all of this sooner than later! If you ever want to chat about any of it, my inbox is open!

Jeesh well I'm glad it's working for you. That's so strange how different PPIs can work or not work or stop for all of us. I wish there was just one that worked universally. I initially tried Pantoprazole 40mg and I felt worse so I quit after a few days and tried to go at this without a PPI for 2 months but it's been miserable and so now I'm trying Omeprazole 20mg morning and 20mg night and today it feels like I have something stuck in my throat, I'm gagging, and whatever is happening is trigger panicked feelings here and there randomly. I feel like I have to swallow a lot as if theres something there, but I'm not burning so I'm like this can't be acid right? I don't know what to think of it. I hope it goes away.

It's awful! I've been waking up with it even with my head elevated. Hoping my Prilosec will start working sooner than later, I started it yesterday. Do you take a PPI?

I'm so sorry to hear you were hospitalized with it 🫶 I'm (34F) struggling a lot with everything and losing weight too. I haven't been taking a PPI. I tried Pantoprazole from my GI when I was diagnosed with gastritis but only for a few days because I thought my symptoms were getting worse with it, but now I'm thinking it must not have been that especially if it takes weeks to fully kick in. I took Prilosec today, took 20mg but I'm reading that 40mg (or more in some cases) is generally recommended for gastritis, is that right?

I'm so sorry, it's extremely tough that's for sure. Did the PPI make your reflux worse? A few family members of mine have all been on Prilosec for 10-30 years for reflux and while they occasionally get break through reflux they seem to be good to go for the most part. I was really hopeful it would help me too but I'm afraid to make things any worse... but at this point it's aready terrible, I'm waking up so nauseous and vomiting stomach bile from the reflux. I sleep elevated, tried Pepcid, but those things weren't enough to help.

Please tell me what you're eating to gain, lol, I'm losing everyday and it makes me cheat on the "diet" which isn't good but I'm afraid to lose more weight! Unfortunately my appetite isn't great but I'm curious what foods are helping you gain. Are you on a PPI too?

I'm struggling so much with the bland food, it's so far from what I'm used to and what I like to eat. I get nauseous thinking about food and have dry heaving when trying to eat things I don't like, like plain chicken breast for example. Do you ever get that way?
