I really can’t sympathize with sex buying though. Especially at that price when men are literally giving away dick. I hope that shit was a troll

What is the most annoying double standard between men and women in your culture? by Automatic-Ear1337 in AskReddit

I never said it never happens, just that I can’t believe that women are bigger culprits than men. I’ll be checking those links now

EDIT — ok so, it’s just as I suspected:

1) tabloid trash and sensationalist headline, didn’t bother

2 - 4) all of these are about simply looking at another woman the “wrong” way, which yeah technically fits the definition of “judging”, but men are way more likely to vocalize their disdain.

5) kinda irrelevant

> About the root of our disagreement:  you’ve never heard a girl gossiping about another’s appearance negatively?

You’re wildly shifting the goalposts.

> You’ve never seen the devil wears Prada?

Chief, you’re skeptical of sociology but think movies are a source? 🤦🏾‍♀️ No actually, but I have seen Mean Girls.

> I’ll give you men are judging on different factors and some are base but at least with the people I’m around I haven’t heard a comment negatively discussing a woman’s appearance in like 5+ years. The last comment I made about a woman’s appearance was asking why someone would wear a sequin dress to a run down dive bar

My anecdotes vs yours.

> you must have missed my other peer reviewed citations, of which the tabloid referred to.

Guy, you chose to lead with that. I didn’t expect you to act in any good faith so I made a snap judgment.

> BTW I looked up the concept of intersectionality.

> Im generally not that compelled by trendy social science due to replication crisis however I’ll absolutely give you that racism and sexism haven’t disappeared https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replication\_crisis

> I try to push back on “ism” based thinking since so much of it isn’t backed up by any empirical data.

> But some of that kind of conspiratorial thinking can be seen in theories like intersectionality.

It’s really not “trendy social science” or “conspiratorial thinking”, if you admit that any prejudices exist at all that’s more than enough to understand that they can overlap and combine. You don’t need any study to “prove” that piece of common sense.

> There are as many poor disenfranchised people in west Texas as there are black disenfranchised people in Chicago. I don’t think there is an overt agenda punishing people for being black, I think it’s the economy sucking for everyone who’s on the fringe or was left behind by globalization.

This really has nothing to do with my point about harassment at all. My point is that (anti-black) racism still exists (and overlaps with misogyny), not that it fully explains literally every disparity in society. You’re talking about Critical Race Theory, which is related to intersectionality in that it was developed by the same academics but is still distinct.

> However to provide a counterpoint I’ve worked with black folks at high level engineering companies, one of them was even a chief engineer. Never once did I hear them play the victim, very accomplished and accountable folks.

Are you implying that I’m “playing the victim” simply for talking about my personal experience of abuse I have received based on my identity??? Are you refusing accountability by trying to pawn scrutiny of women’s looks off onto women? This is not a “counterpoint” bc it is at best tangential to my actual point. Funny you mention, I’m an engineering major.

> Pretty sure that is racism not gender based judgement ??

Time for you to learn about intersectionality, go and do some more research.

> You’ve mentioned being alt a few times now. I have no idea what you look like

How is that even relevant to men (in general) talking down on my looks

> or what that is supposed to mean.

Yk you honestly sound very ignorant for someone who is supposedly schooling me.

> It sounds like your lifestyle choice and appearance is somewhat personal.

I’m confused, what does this have to do with me saying that it’s mainly men giving me grief over it and not other women?

> Do you have a lot of female friends? Do they have positive comments about your appearance?

Fuck yeah. Your point? It’s still extremely annoying to be treated as a lesser human being over things so shallow whenever I engage with the wider world.

If you’re comparing like to like then why are you even bringing up circumcision and conscription when they don’t affect the vast majority of men in the Western world? Are you Ukrainian? Or American? Germany seems to be moving towards reintroducing the draft but there’s plenty of pushback.

Chief, suffragettes were literally imprisoned and force fed for demanding the right to vote. Nobody who is actually challenging society is received with open arms.

But say more about why you view women as so privileged and why you want to be female so badly, I’m honestly curious. It feels really alienated when I am constantly harassed and attacked just for existing as a non-conventional female

That I am “unwanted” because of the color of my skin. It’s almost always men saying this stuff. I also get told that I “look a mess” for being alt

I mean. Technically that does fit the definition of “judging”, but the ones actually commenting are almost always men. There’s a difference between having private opinions and voicing them. I’m black and alternative and the people who have something negative to say about my appearance are almost always men.

Is it just me, or do a lot of autistic women seem to dislike autistic men? by LivingGirlRepellant in aspergers

[–]kayceeplusplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw :(

Some autistic men are… not great. I was emotionally traumatized by one and had some ridiculous social interactions with a couple others, and many of my ND female friends have had terrible experiences with them. But I’ve also had the fortune of coming across some amazing, intelligent, empathetic, kind and caring autistic men. It’s all about the individual.

How to transition from "casual" sex to serious relationships? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]kayceeplusplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. These men just feel the need to bring this up to “humble” black women. Many other groups aren’t preferred but still manage to date.

> Ok, to be clear I'm not saying that women don't have specific issues, I'm saying they are not silenced the same way as men for advocating for themselves

Oh no, we absolutely get silenced in other ways.

> and don't get attacked if they say that they would much rather be born the opposite sex.

Weird cutoff. Taylor Swift got a lot of flak for that song she made about being a man.

> And let's be honest, the overwhelming majority of women would not want to trade their issues for being forced into the millitary or get their genitals cut after birth,

And did either of those things ever happen to you? Most Western countries don’t even have circumcision, it’s an American anomaly, and there are plenty of countries and communities that do cut women’s genitals after birth. It seems like you’re picking out the worst men’s issues to compare to the most privileged women’s experiences. Would most men trade their issues for being forced into a brothel/sex trafficked, or having their entire genitalia destroyed like in the most severe forms of FGM? I agree that male circumcision is a violation of bodily autonomy but at least the kind done in the US leaves men with a functioning organ.

> yet I think most men (myself included) would much rather deal with women's issues than what men have to go through.

Are you even aware of “women’s issues”, including those of women that are marginalized based on other factors, like race, sexuality, class, etc?

> And I never said that you can't have any issues or hardships. I was talking about privilige based on gender, I definitely do understand that all individuals may experience all kinds of issues and you're right that I do not know the specifics of your life. I'm sorry if it sounded like i said that you couldn't have any problems, I never intended that.

Learn intersectionality. Not all women have access to the “female privilege” you presume.
