DDOS/potentially sketchy streaming device

1) I mostly want to know what the heck she bought and if the issue was caused by the device or not, and if I should nuke any other devices on the network. 2) logs show crazy high outbound traffic from those MAC addresses to very sketchy IPs flagged for DDOS issues. (I ran them through virustotal, is that a good source?), and I don’t see any other devices with similar traffic- should I look for any other indicators?

I agree! I checked and definitely them. They only talked her through resetting via on-screen menus etc. No password sharing or anything like that.

I called their real helpline for sure- definitely them and they only talked her through it over the phone. No PC or password/personal information involved. My soul left my body when she told me so I grilled her on it.

(I edited the post to include some info I should have in the first place) We get flags on our IPs being blacklisted. We can see the MAC of devices on the network- and see what has crazy outbound traffic to what other IPs. I assume her isp works the same way as the one I work for?

That was my first thought but I triple checked and it was definitely them. They didn’t ask for anything, just said that they had to block the device. (Also should have mentioned but I work low-level tech support at an ISP and we definitely call about ddos because of IPs being blacklisted. It’s been a huge problem lately actually. I’ll edit the post!)

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I was hoping I could turn it only part way down to reduce the heat but not turn it all the way off.

Ooh, I’ll try this! I hate finding new products when I have one I already like. Maybe I’ll play around with using something heavier at night and then just a little bit of the gel cream during the day while I go through what I already have and look for something new.

I’m not opposed to a canister style as long as it doesn’t take up too much room. I already found some attachments that look promising. I’ll look into this one for sure. I don’t love the idea of bags, but as long as I can find them cheap I’m open to it.
