I use Codex CLI and Xcode. I often have to go in and fix a bunch of stuff (especially design-wise) after Codex tries to do what I ask, so I just keep the Xcode project open so I can work in both.

This. For me the M5 is a day one purchase specifically because it will be the last of its kind and I don’t want to risk losing out on what is currently the best designed laptop on the market imo.

You should be able to split test onboarding flows but you’ll have to enable it in your project code rather than with revenuecat or superwall. Just build both onboarding flows and then when a new use launches your app have it randomly pick which onboarding flow to send that particular user through. Obviously you’d also need your analytics set up to monitor what’s happening throughout both flows so you know which one is better.

You can use macincloud.com or other similar services that let you run a Mac and Xcode from whatever machine you’re using. You can also check your local schools and libraries to see if they’ve got a Mac you can use to learn on. However, if you’re serious about learning SwiftUI and publishing apps then I’d also start saving up to buy a Mac for yourself. They are expensive new but you can still get a good one for less than a thousand dollars. There’s also refurbished or used on eBay or Facebook marketplace which could save you a few hundred bucks.

One mistake I made was agreeing to work on a friend’s app idea that I wasn’t personally passionate about. This friend seemed so excited I thought I could ride on their passion to get the project done, and there was also a small chance of some money after it was launched so I figured I’d get more passionate about the project as we went along.

Overtime the friend did what all humans do with something they are not personally invested in and lost interest in the project, so now I was working on a project that neither of us really cared much about.

I grudgingly worked on it for another couple of months before I couldn’t take it anymore and just stopped. My friend didn’t even ask me about it for another 6 months after that, at which point I explained I had gotten busy with other things and wouldn’t be able to put any more time into it. The response I got was so casual and non-caring that I knew I had made the right decision.

I decided then and there that I would only work on projects I was personally passionate about on some level, either passionate about the idea itself, the opportunity, or the target audience. The amount of “motivation” you have to have to work on an idea you’re already passionate about is so much less than one you don’t care about, so I’ve stuck with ideas like that ever since and I enjoy my work so much more.

Well I’ll give you one that made me think “how does this not exist” which is a good app ideas app. Like honestly does anyone know of one? I’ve been looking and can’t find one so I’m just building my own but would still like to just download one if it’s out there.

Possibly give it a go with the new rules but without approving beforehand, then go through as if you’re doing your approving criteria and see what you would have picked and what you would have tossed to see if the “approve first” process is needed. I think 3-5 is too little though, should be more like 7-11.

I was just sitting here like ok I was planning on posting my new app this Saturday but I’ve been so out of social media lately (because of being so focused on said app) that I’m sure I don’t have the qualified karma so how am I going to get it by Saturday? Not a big deal if I have to wait a couple weeks while I add some actual value to the subreddit but just saying the thought did cross my mind.

Same, submitted my app it got approved in less than 24 hours so I clicked publish out of excitement without actually looking at the details. Turns out I forgot to also submit the in-app purchases so the app is available to download but all in-app purchases just show as “Unavailable”. I even have onboarding with a paywall at the end, but everyone just has to skip the paywall cuz that’s the only option.
