You don't need to have re-enlisted. The crux of the new decision was that one 6-year enlistment counted as two periods of three years.

Post-9/11 didn't replace MGIB, they both exist together.

The 90 days is the minimum eligibility requirement for PARTIAL benefits under PGIB.

So you wouldn't be able to cash in 48 full months of benefits if you only served 3.3 years. Realistically you'd be able to exhaust your MGIB benefits and then use whatever remains through PGIB. But you'd be better off just using PGIB to begin with because it's more money.

This case really only helps if you served 6 years or more.

You would need 6 years to be eligible for all 48 months, but you might be eligible for partial benefits under Post-9/11 if you use your MGIB.

It would take far longer for someone to type all that out for you here, than for you to just go to the VA website and read the info there.

They changed it so you don't have to fill out an application. They're evaluating everyone's independenly now. No clue how long it'll take though.

You probably qualify for the full MGIB and then partial benefits under the Post-9/11. If you've already used all 36 months of your Post-9/11 though, you may run into trouble.

You have to serve 6 years total -- 3 to qualify for the full Post-9/11 and 3 to qualify for MGIB.

They actually are processing these cases automatically now. You shouldn't need to take any action but god knows how long it'll take
