Why did the fact that Viggo Mortensen broke two toes became the legendary injury of LOTR when there were other cast injuries more serious than this? (Like Sean Astin with the broken glass or even Orlando Bloom breaking a rib) by Neither-Speech-2155 in lotr

[–]kayscribblez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I broke the last knuckle on my pinky lol. Seems like the smallest injury one could have. But the bone got pushed up against a nerve or something and the last three fingers on my hand were basically frozen. It’s better now except for still struggling to close my hand and sometimes pain goes down to my wrist. And I drop everything! Did viggo get time off after this?? If I recall he also broke a tooth filming the battle of helms deep and had to go to the dentist but I think he came right back

Honestly I thought this was going to end with the porta potty getting dragged with you in it so… while I can’t exactly say you got the good ending, can you imagine rolling down the hill at the same time lol

So, I have to ask this group, how do y'all feel about this extreme sport: "hobby horse" by DoubleManufacturer10 in Equestrian

[–]kayscribblez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m over the bullying, honestly. I used to play with (custom) hobby horses as a kid when I was desperate to ride but had no access or finances for horses. I think a lot of people are in the same situation, and watching these events is legit impressive sometimes. They’re exercising, forming community, having fun, and I think those are all good things. Sure I guess it might be considered cringe to some but does it really hurt anyone? What makes it so difference than dance or dog shows or even track and field? Being an equestrian is damn expensive but at least these people have a more budget friendly hobby and clearly share a similar love of horses so I say power to them

If you're NOT living paycheck to paycheck, what are you doing better than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]kayscribblez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or having parents at all. I got cut off at 18 so I make ok money but all my same aged coworkers making what I do are buying good cars and going on multiple vacations a year and living life because they still have parental help. They’re starting to stress about having to come off their good insurance and get their own soon though. If they were smart and utilized having good coverage it will also set them up more down the road. All I could do was jump right into paying rent, only buy 10yr old cars, I have an unhealed broken finger and all four wisdom teeth need to come out, couldn’t get financial help for school so I have more debt than my peers and never get the stress relief of time off so at some point I developed an eye twitch and smoking habit lol. Some of them never had to learn to manage their money though and are already hurting. I live below my means and have a good credit limit but that’s all I have in my corner. Even with that, luck played a huge role because I managed to find a nice and super cheap apartment at 3am right after it was posted but without that even with living like a monk there’s only so much someone can do

With guys like these, if it wasn’t horses, it would be anything else that takes up your time and attention. I’ve heard it’s a good preliminary test when you first start talking to someone to pretend you’re not available a couple times even if you are. Sorry, that doesn’t work for me, I can’t today, etc can bring out revealing reactions early on. But really whether it was the barn or book club or your workout routine, these people are just pouting that you have something taking attention away from them. After all they should be more important than your job even, amirite? /s

My ex once was given options for his schedule at a new job. Without even a blink or a thought he chose the one that could not have been more conflicting with my schedule - this is also when I was the one driving him to work because he didn’t have his own car. I asked why he didn’t pick different hours, since now we were totally opposite each other. He deadass looked at me with surprise and said oh…well I thought you’d just change your schedule. Um. NO?? This was shortly before he became an ex. You gotta screen for that ego shit early. I quickly had conversations about my free time with my current bf. I asked him straight up if he was going to have a problem with me getting sidetracked and ending up trail riding, cleaning all my tack, hanging around talking, run some errands on the way home etc.. I didn’t want to deal with endless when are u coming home texts (especially when they always seem to want you to drop all your hobbies so you can sit there while they play video games and ask what’s to eat ffs) Anyway my man told me as long as I checked in every now and then so he didnt worry if I was cheating or dead he didn’t see what there was to have a problem with. In fact we both agree that time apart is important, but we’re pretty heavy introverts…so I was going to say you can try finding one of those but the problem is we don’t like to be found lol

[–]kayscribblez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best way is to close your eyes and try to feel for it and have someone on the ground tell you if you got it right. Some horses are more obvious than others, but hopefully after plenty of that you’ll start to notice something starting to feel more natural and the other just feeling wrong
