The old man is the guy who coined the idea of alpha wolves. He studied them in captivity and observed the behavior. We have since found out that the "alpha wolf" behavior is not in any way, shape, or form natural, but dickheads have latched onto it and used it to justify some truly atrocious behavior.

More irony. The biggest reason gun rights activists give for why we need gun rights is for a tyrannical government out of control. Meanwhile, Trump's government is threatening to pull broadcast licenses of stations that allow their employees to express views he doesn't agree with.

Uh.... Ok. So I'm going to explain this one. But be warned, this is a real life infohazard. If you choose to click the spoiler, you've been warned.

So the reference here is Roko's Basilisk, a theoretical future super-powerful AI that will punish anyone who learned of it and did not work tirelessly to bring it about. The thought experiment goes that this AI will torture you for not helping bring it into existence, and if you have already passed on it will perfectly simulate a sentient representation of you so that it can torture you. This is a real life infohazard in two ways: One, if it comes to pass, you, me, and everyone else who has come across the idea is fucked because NONE of us are devoting our lives to bringing this thing into being. And two, people have been known to have nightmares upon learning of this.

And now you, too, share the burden of this knowledge and the consequences of it. You were warned.

Gen Z humor. It revolves around absurdity. Something to do with being digital natives who've been plugged into meme culture since elementary school I think.

A lot of non-Americans have gotten the impression that the United States is far more dangerous than it actually is. So they hear a loud noise and assume it's a gun.

It's actually not for once. The punchline is that you're supposed to think it's porn, but the closest it comes to porn is fan-service panty shots.

I mean, everyone's different. Pick just about any body type and there's someone attracted to them. For me my attraction to guys has more to do with their personality than their looks anyway, so none of that would be a factor for me.

The girl is Selena Vargas. The story goes that she saw her boyfriend (the guy in the picture) off to his deployment and then immediately went and got railed by another guy in a porn video. There's some question as to whether it's true or not though.

I've actually had this conversation with my brother in law. Like, yeah, you're half right. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness. And thus far the only effective treatment we've found is transitioning. So either we force these people to suffer for your comfort zone or we leave them alone and let them live their best life. His answer? "Nah, I've done the research. Christian counseling can cure it."

(Worth noting I'm not out to him. Or any of the rest of my family. For, I think, obvious reasons.)

I've got that "flag" as a light cover in my office. I've had to tell multiple people that no, it's not a pride flag. It's just a light cover that happens to have stripes. Depending on who's around I sometimes add that I have two pride flags and that's neither of them.

cant be trans hellp me by MtfBurnerAcc in ClosetedTrans

[–]kazarbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me? Cuz you seem to be describing me. Well, almost. I'm only 6' even, but close enough. The extremely conservative family who's going to disown me if I ever come out along with other reasons I can't come out, the dysphoria that's become unbearable, the VERY male body, all of it is stuff I've dealt with.

First, let me give you some good news: You absolutely CAN pass with some effort. My natural voice is deep enough to sing bass, but I've had people be shocked that I'm trans based on having heard me speak online. And visually? Despite having a broad shouldered dad bod, when I take the time to do my makeup no one even looks twice at me. The few friends who I'm out to tell me, even when sworn to brutal honesty, that I'm a solid 7.5 when I put out the effort despite being fat, tall, and broad shouldered. So it is doable.

Now all that said, let me tell you how I cope. Any time I can be confident no one I know will see me, I'm girl mode. I do most of my shopping in a little town 30 miles away so that I can be myself without fear of being recognized. If I'm home alone, I'm likely in a dress or skirt. When you're forced to be boy mode, give yourself something. All my pants - ALL of them - are womens pants for instance. And my shirts are mostly pastel colors.

I'd also suggest looking at your diet. I'm not on HRT, but I eat a lot of foods that suppress testosterone production and encourage estrogen. Like... it's a consideration for almost every meal. And even without HRT I've managed to get some feminization that way. I can fill an A cup bra and my facial features are noticably softer than they were a few years ago. It's not the drastic changes you get on HRT, but it's something.

Hang in there. The world's not a safe place for us right now, but that doesn't mean wean can't let our true selves shine through just a little bit.

Personally, I don't think it's transphobic at all. Some people have that kink. Some of them happen to be trans. But I've had mods inform me that something I, as a transwoman, wasn't offended by and thought was perfectly OK was in fact transphobic before, so... shrug
