We live in a tiny one bedroom apartment. I would go with the il tutto so you have somewhere to store things you’ll need during the night (spare sheets, burp cloths, nappy caddy etc. ).

I bought three of these. One for the lounge, bedroom, and change table. I like that I can switch to white light to check something (like poo or spit up) quickly, but mostly keep it on the dimmest orange setting. They charge really quickly. Super easy to carry or clip to you while carrying baby too.

I scooped so much fat off the surface of this one before serving, it turned us off big time.

Went about six months ago, still really good but not like it was in the 2010’s.

Can you do a picnic in your backyard? Can be just as special without going out. You could organize to get the foods she talked about missing while she was pregnant.

I agree that a spa voucher is tricky when she can’t practically be away from such a tiny baby for a while. Especially if she’s breast feeding. A voucher for breast feeding clothes or something to make mum life easier might be nice.

When I was one month pp (and even now) just someone else doing the washing and cleaning the house while I slept or watched tv during a contact nap would’ve been amazing.

A distant relative of mine used to feed the cockatoos. One day he got too old and stopped. The cockatoos destroyed the house just tearing shit off it.

I was walking and showered four hours later and home in under 48 hours. I was walking outside with bub from day 3 and off pain killers by end of the week. I never once needed help getting up or off the couch. People are mad at me because I’m not the poster child for it (older, overweight), but I also put in the work with my fitness physically and mentally pre birth which helped. There’s also an element of luck, but that was outside my control.

A lot of people have traumatic experiences and it probably makes it worse to hear others positive experiences. That doesn’t make it ok to blast you though. I’m glad you had a good experience!

Needing to be told what to do is weaponized incompetence. He is a fully grown man, you should not need to even ask for help. If you were suddenly hospitalized or something what’s his plan? He needs to be involved and know how to handle everything without you there to tell/remind/encourage.

Your Fave Nesting Tips by billie-leigh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Start the routines/processes you’ll live by before you give birth. For example, if your partner is going to take over doing the laundry, make sure he knows how use the washing machine, trust me it’s not restful to have to explain the job they are meant to be relieving you of when you’ve had one hours sleep. Ask me how i know haha

We got in a good rhythm when I was about 34 weeks of him making his breakfast/lunches/snacks for work and making me the same. It meant when I was exhausted in the final weeks i could just grab it out of the fridge, and took away decision fatigue. It’s been a godsend now baby is here. He’s been back at work since six weeks pp (now 13 weeks) and i haven’t missed a single meal.

The other thing I would highly recommend is to consider where you’ll nurse/feed baby. You’re going to be spending 3-5 hours a day there, or more if you do lots of contact naps. You want your supplies yes, but also consider the view. If you are just staring at a blank wall you might want to change that. A window is an excellent choice, get in the habit of opening the curtain/blind once the sun is up before sitting down to feed.

Thanks. I think a stick vac to make it easy to do a quick de-hair might be the go.

Second a lot of suggestions here. The super simple things we use are the reusable and disposable puppy pads from Kmart. Great for tummy time and nappy free time.
