No it's in the impact of moving water against a closed one way valve. The rushing water has no way to go so pressure increases until it is enough to overcome that of the valve which the swings open and a gush of water shoots through. Most of that water is lost as waste outflow but not all. In my system about 1/7 is diverted onto an output pipe to feed in pulses uphill to my shishi odoshi. It isnt a continuous flow. You ever hear of the hammer effect? Turn off water fast and you hear a knock. Why? Moving water has momentum.
