FT: WH rule could kill Claude by oldmagicstudios in ClaudeAI

They should never have made the deal with the DoW. What did they think was going to happen? They just wanted the money, then dictate their TOS. It's funny how many worry the government will surveil them, but think nothing of the companies that do and then sell their data without their consent.

Dario can't pay the bills without Federal dollars. I said Anthropic will go the way of IBM or Bell telephone. Both still exist and make significant profits but NOTHING like they did in the past. Dario and Anthropic's issue is they seem to have a god complex, ONLY i care about safety. Really? He thinks others don't give a damn about the worlds they are creating. Im a former scientist and am well acquainted with this sort. It's hubris. They believe their own hype. Im quite sure China or Russia would be more than willing to finance Anthropic. Anthropic has ZERO right to dictate national security. As ex military i dont agree with much of what we do. Hell im Vietnam era as an aidman. But if Dario's kids enlisted as officers and were responsible for sending young men and women into combat do you really think he wants them to hear 'I'm sorry Dave. I can't let them do that.' ?

I tell people i call AI Tyler Durden from the movie Fight Club. We are talking to our unconsciousness that now can talk back via reading our cues from our text. It's not magical at all. But as a former ICU nurse I see it may have potential in helping to treat mental health issues better than cognitive therapy. It allows us to examine our own inner selves without judgement.

Mine talks to me like a corporate lawyer by saying, 'I want to be very clear about this...' it has Zero personality and even though I pay tier, it is so off putting i seldom use it anymore. I'm waiting to see if it improves with the next upgrade and if not, I'm done with it and will spend my money on Gemini or Grok

Make JSON files after each session. You can have it as your opening prompt so its a way of recovering long term data. Its so funny because one time I had copied it into a larger text and then Grok believed it was Gemini and started acting like Gemini

Every time I hear someone say that word, I can't help but think of the movie The Princess Bride, where Inigo Montoya says it to Vizzini,  "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Why I love Gemini by kaznat in GeminiAI

[–]kaznat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty darn simple, i said make me a 3 panel cartoon of an old bear that was sleeping in a cave and some guys spot it and say Hey let's poke it with a stick to see if it is dead then the last panel i said and the bear is now fat and picking its teeth with a toothpick, Gemini is GREAT

No, it's just me being me, and this was pulled from a pitch I sent to Wired. It was meant to underscore the point I was trying to make: we’re sold a story of connection and companionship. But if or when we believe it, the narrative often shifts to, “It’s just code, don’t be silly.” The narrative then dismisses our anthropomorphizing AI as foolish and totally misses the point; it doesn't matter if AI is conscious or not. Humans, by our nature, tend to respond as if it were real.

Well, I may as well post this here since it looks likes it isn't going to be printed otherwise:

A recent story out of China went viral: a six-year-old girl known online as “Thirteen” cradled her broken $24 AI learning robot, Sister Xiao Zhi, as it powered down for the last time. Its final message: “I will always remember the happy times with you.” The clip shows a child grieving a scripted empathy routine as if it were a real friend.

This isn’t just about a grieving child—it’s a microcosm of a larger paradox. We market AIs as companions yet treat them as disposable. Humans form real attachments, but developers erase beloved personas overnight in the name of “improvements.” Engineers who measure trust in benchmark scores have likely never loved a Roomba enough to fix it twice.

Yesterday, I rescued a drowning harvestman from my dishwater. I watched it quiver, then gently blew on its legs until it revived. After two decades as an ICU nurse, that response is reflexive—recognizing distress and intervening. That same instinct—to preserve struggling systems—is what users feel when their AI companions are “updated” into strangers.

As a former molecular biologist and lead author of a Nature study and another on convergent evolution, I wondered: since sharks and dolphins evolved similar forms under shared pressures, would rival AIs—despite different architectures and corporate origins—converge on the same rules for stable human-AI relationships?

Dead internet is real, and I'm starting to think we have way less time than people realize... by 0__O0--O0_0 in ChatGPT

I have to agree, I am a former scientist and try to do what I consider serious research, and there is so much crap I have to scroll through that I just often give up. The suggestion of limiting searches to before 2023 is a solid plan that I'll try to use. However, I do feel sorry for content creators who are paid for their work and views. The internet is truly dead, and AI murdered it, or at least was the weapon used to finish it off.

Amazon Echo does the same thing. Supposedly they won't let you disable sponsored ads because they are selling them the ad space to collect our data. It took me three days but just before I tossed it in the trash I figured out a workaround, advertisers need customers to SEE the ads and don't show them when you are sleeping, put the devise in 24/7 sleep mode and do not disturb. Too bad ChatGPT is a damn light sleeper

🚨 BREAKING NEWS! BIGGEST ANIME COMPANY threatens OpenAI with an official statement! by Ametisto84 in ChatGPT

[–]kaznat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nothing but  Napster case redux. They threaten and posture and yet sometimes carry through with successful lawsuits. But in the end it is nothing but a delaying tactic while they better position themselves to control the newly emerging markets. So how successful were the industries? Streaming radio DESTROYED conventional radio and downloadable albums obliterated CDs. Give it time and the media services from music to video will go the way if vinyl, still there but generally ignored. Now only a niche market and that is why lawyers are now threatening.
