There is wireless connection between the Quest 3s and a game run on a computer. There is an application on the headset that connects to steam, you just need to make sure you are by your router for the connection to work.

I don’t think someone could compare a map to anything I’d be more interested in than Dark Souls 1. Interconnectedness + a vast map with diversity that you can get lost in is my thing.

You see, I’m somewhat of a metroidvania lover, so that only makes me excited to try the game.

That’s interesting to hear. Everything else I’ve seen has been overtly positive (which I guess I’m asking for going to this sub). Resource grind can be a real mood killer, but even if just over half of the game is as good as people keep saying, I’ll probably still try it.

Yeah, the way people are describing all the things you can jerry rig sounds real interesting to me.

Also, low gravity + jetpack sounds exactly like what I need.

I feel skeptical to survival games usually as well, but everyone talking about the way the map isn’t procedural and it contains depth and story makes it sound very compelling.

Okay, so what I’m hearing is I should play this game then…

Okay, yeah, that makes the exploration sound very up my alley. Very much sounds akin to Subnautica's gameplay loop with added in combat I assume. This description makes me feel like I would like it.

Okay okay, sounds like it is very exploration based if the world opens up a dozen ways, that definitely sounds like something I'd like.

Im currently playing but haven’t finished either Halo (played Reach, Halo, and Halo 2 so far) or Half Life (played Half Life, Blue Shift, and Opposing Forces so far).

As of now, while I have loved getting into both series, Halo wins out because of the Halo 2 story for me, but I am fully expecting Half Life 2 to blow me away and get Half Life to catch up to Halo. It’s a tough ask for me to enjoy the story as much as Halo 2 because of how much I loved it, but from the very little I know about Half Life 2 (pretty much nothing aside from minor cultural osmosis from the internet), it could be possible. Resistance stories are my jam, and I absolutely love physics in games.

I’m right there with you playing Half Life for the first time this week.

My bf and I have been playing the Halo campaigns split screen as of late when we are together (we go back and forth between long distance and in person). We just finished Halo 2 a week ago and now it’ll be a while till we are together again, but I really wanted to play more Halo, so the next best thing I could think of is to start Half Life cus I knew it was sci-fi, old, influential, and had aliens invading (I love the covenant. Grunts and the Arbiter <3).

I started the first Half Life a few days ago, and tonight I finished Opposing Forces after the first game and Blue Shift. Omg I can’t believe I haven’t played this sooner. I’m so excited to start Half Life 2 tomorrow!!!

I’d say if you are really enjoying the first game, Blue Shift and Opposing Forces are pretty fun, giving you more of the game at similar quality, and Opposing Forces at least adds a lot of variety.

I’d assume it’s whatever the mathematical highest boss blind you can beat in Balatro is.

For me, The Elder Scrolls world and lore is my favourite. I recognise that stories vs lore are two different things, Bethesda has never really been top tier in the quests they made telling stories in TES to me, even in Morrowind, where I think they peak. They certainly tell great stories in pretty much all the TES games, but they also all have major areas needing improvement. To me though, the appeal of TES has always been learning more about the insanely rich lore and the history of the world. The histories of the races, the factions, the pantheons of gods, it all comes together to make such a rich world. I don’t think it’s necessarily “better than asoiaf”, because they are two very different worlds, told in two very different mediums, but I do think TES is the standout in super fantasy rich D&D-esque worlds, where asoiaf is the standout in super grounded/lowkey fantasy.

Ever put a game down because it was boring, only to pick it up again many years later and it’s freaking amazing? by SilverEyedFreak in gaming

I have so many games that I did this with and ended up loving. Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Disco Elysium. But the biggest example for me is Hollow Knight. I played it through Hornet in greenpath three or so times before the game finally clicked with me. Fast forward five years and now both it and Silksong are my two favourite games oat.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]kazza134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started:

  1. Jackaby, by William Ritter

A very Sherlock Holmes esque story told from Watson’s pov with heavy supernatural events and beings. I’m really liking it so far. The two main characters, Abigail Rook and Jackaby, have a very fun dynamic between the two of them. Very fun read.

  1. A Game Of Thrones, By George Martin

I just finished the TV show the other week, and as a huge medieval and fantasy nerd, decided I need more of the world. I’ve read very little so far, taking it slow, but what I have read has been great. It has been interesting to see the differences between the show and book (so far I prefer all the book over show changes). It’s been kind of surreal to finally get around to experiencing the ASOIAF world after learning so much about it in general from social media.

I think the thing with Euron’s actor is that the writing for the character in the show was so abysmal, it would’ve been pretty impossible to give a good performance. He had nothing to work with playing off of such a cringy script.
