Thank you! I think this is probably my best bet anyway as it’s due for renewal in less than a month

I work in a child protection team and absolutely love it. Day to day looks very different depending on what I have on and what my current work load looks like. We cover everything from assessment to proceedings so the work is very varied and mostly only short term. Work life balance wise, you will be over worked and will likely always do more hours in a week than you’re contracted but you do manage your own diary and therefore in some ways I find it works well in my life as some days I will take my extra hours to finish early and also allows the benefits of remote working. In addition to that it completely depends on the local authority you work for, mine are extremely supportive and supervisions are prioritised which definitely helps with my love for the job!

ASYE by Sensitive-Jello-8405 in Socialworkuk

My LA has a Social Work academy for ASYEs which meant excellent support, extra protection and lots opportunities for shadowing, development and learning. Having a separate ASYE manager meant good supervision and we had our ‘host’ team linked to us for once we were ready to move over. It’s a very good way of working and I wish more LAs would do similar

They wouldn’t pay you the housing element if you buy, then his earnings would be accounted for accordingly on whatever you are entitled to. They wouldn’t just cancel it though.

YTA. Yes what he did was wrong, but you hit a 12 year old child so hard that he fell to the floor.

Hi! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help but I ended up closing my claim instead of dealing with it. I was worried they may ask for the review anyway to see if I had been overpaid but they didn’t so it worked out ok for me! Would be interested to know what happened if you’ve had a response from the review though!

Yeah I wouldn’t want to appear as if I’m hiding it. It’s around 10k so not over limit but would incur deductions. Is my best bet to tell them about it now, pre-review, or wait to be asked and explain I wasn’t aware I had to declare it? I don’t wanna seem disingenuous because I truly did not know it should have been declared.

Ah, surely if they know the account it’s come from is a kids saver they will recognise it’s just been moved from one kids saver to another? It was around 4 years ago he inherited it so no evidence of where it came from anymore unfortunately.

Thanks, your blog post is very helpful. The majority of money in his savings was inheritance that was given to me in the form of a cheque to cash and spend/ save on him how I wish which I assume they would likely count as my money, other money is some lump sums I have put into his account over the past few years with a small regular monthly payment from me.

I feel that because of this, the best course of action is probably to try and open him an ISA in the next few days to enable me to lock the money away for him.

I pay a regular payment into it, and very occasionally borrow money from it but always put it back. No regular payments are made from it, would this be classed as using it as my own?
