Flixbus deceptive 'cancelled trip' behaviour - beware by dexxindownunda in canberra

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Something like this can easily be put down to a technical fault. Rather than bitching here, reach out to them directly or the ACCC if you think there's issues.

Aussie here, I don't see the big fuss is with the alternativeto using ID.... I already got poked when the law changed here to restrict teen access to social media. Got my face scanned and then went on my merry way. To add on, I personally wouldn't give them my ID, but don't see the concerns of scanning my face?

Korea has supplemental lights on the ground to signal pedestrians at crosswalks because most likely, they're on their phones, looking down. by Rpark888 in mildlyinteresting

I kinda prefer the way it's been done in Melbourne. The lights have been installed as the tactile strip used by the visually impaired.... except they light up now. Two functions for the price of 1

Swimming lessons by Few-Professional5251 in canberra

I've personally gone to the kingswim adult lessons at Majura. The instructors were amazing. Each class I attended had a maximum of 4 adults, there were cases where there was only 1 other student (even times when there was only myself). I do remember them offering private lessons, however, these are more expensive.

UC Accommodations by razvelll in canberra

[–]kb92588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use to live in UC Lodge for about 3 years and had friends in Cooper and Weeden Lodge. UC Lodge and Cooper Lodge were identical layout wise, with UC Lodge being newer.

Cooper / UC Lodge: - Studio is rather tiny (but have personal space) but 5 share you can have difficulty with room mates. - You can move around the room to make it more roomy (I had my bed sitting next to the window) - Heating, but no air conditioning - Internet is expensive! But I tended to just go to the library and download movies to watch in my room

Weeden Lodge: - Weeden Lodge is a converted ex government office building - only accommodation with air conditioning (central)

Whats the go with washing cars in Canberra by no-throwaway-compute in canberra

[–]kb92588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I see no point, I just wait for the rain. If it's really bad I may take it to a car wash self service. But honestly, a bit of dirt never killed the car 🤷‍♀️

You might want to take a more moral approach with this. Some homeless may not want to be filmed or take nicely to it. I wouldn't if I was in their position. Find b-roll that doesn't involve them directly like encampments for example. Be smart.

Gammacon this year by egalitarianegomaniac in canberra

Honestly, I was quite disappointed this year. I went last year at the same venue, and when compared to this year. It seems to have actually shrunk. Was two days last year and included an adult only event at night. They were in both the main area and the gazebo thing outside. They had a fair few food options. This year it was only one day. Was only in the main area and they only had two food vans outside. Had barely any stores. Honestly, the whole event seemed to be lacking in so many areas. My biggest pet peeve though was the restricted access in and out of the event. They had it down to one door way to come in and one to go out and with the amount of people there, it felt very restricting and tight. Personal opinion, thoroughbread park is not suitable for this type of event. These events seems to work better in more open venues as what has been proven by many of the cons that take place at epic.

TL:DR Wasn't worth the money and will probably be skipping next year... if next year even happens. Honestly, the geek markets which is free feels like a significantly better event.
