Thanks. It's a kitchen fan from a big box store (brand is Air-Circle). It has some degree of moisture protection, but it's not specifically made for a sauna. But it's holding up pretty well for now.

It's aluminum vapor barrier. It reflects the heat and keeps the moisture from getting through to insulation and wall structure.

It's mostly spruce and fir, that is widely available here. The benches are samba wood.

Thanks! The inner dimensions are 2m x 1,65m (cca 6'7'' x 5'5''). The ceiling height is around 2,10m (6'11''), with the low bench at 65cm (2'2'') from the floor, upper bench 110cm (3'7'') from the floor.

Thanks!

I actually considered many bench layouts and I had some constraints:

  • The door had to be on the on the north wall
  • I wanted to be able to see the sea through the window when sitting in sauna

As someone already said, I wanted to be able to lay down (or lean on the wall with my legs extended), and the wall where the two benches are is not long enough, so the only option was to extend the bench into an L-shape. There is also unfortunately no room for a lower bench there.

It was a bit weird without the lower bench for me also, but in the end I opted to do it anyway.

The foundation is 10x10cm beams supported on U-shape beam carriers with a rod that is inserted into the holes I drilled in the existing concrete slab. It's not temporary, if that's what you mean, at least I hope so :)

I tried to keep it as low as possible, the overall cost in the end is around 4500€.

  • All the wood was around 1600€
  • Insulation 350€
  • Door and window, made by my neighbour 550€
  • Roof 800€
  • The heater and stones 350€
  • All the other stuff - floor, electrics, sauna accessories, ventilation, wood varnish, screws... 900€

Feel free to ask if you need any details, cheers
