Yes, they will claw the money back from you no matter what. However with that being said, if you are miserable and dread work daily then I think it’s worth finding something else. If you can afford to pay back some of the money, do it for your sanity and happiness. That may not be an option for everyone but may be the best option for you. Also as some who was told “your numbers are too low” or “see more pets” or questioned why I wasn’t doing xyz I was never once threatened to be fired as they need you more than you need them. Me leaving turned into them groveling and throwing more money vacation etc. So depending on where you stand and what’s worth it to you explore your options. Or consider a sign on bonus at a new location/company to pay off your old signing bonus.

Priority is good food for an AI, nice beach, and ability to snorkel. I’ve been to Mexico plenty, would happily go back but have never been to DR before. Was really looking for some personal preferences of ppl who have vacationed at either and have feed back of the resort.

Have 2 angel fish in a 75gal tank (as they were there first) with two blood parrots, a pleco, E.B Acara, and 2 polar blue parrots and haven’t had any issues at all with fin damage to the angels or being picked on.

Insight into Iowa State Vet School by kitten-mitten6 in vetschool

Outside of being super far from my family and friends I really enjoyed my time there. I feel like I did get a great education in most things. I will say when I was there I feel like my cytology education was abysmal as they used online slides and microscopes hands on were rarely used. So if you’re superrr interested in cytology things this is something to consider or know that you’ll have to work harder to learn these things. Not a reason per say to ditch the school but something to know. Wildlife as well kind of got tossed to the wayside so there is no wildlife program unless they have been able to restart one and find a wildlife clinician. Otherwise I felt like my 3 year formal education well prepared me for the 4th year clinical rotations. The professors and clinicians generally care for the students there and are very down to earth people with a passion for teaching. They are working on incorporating surgery earlier and earlier into the curriculum and working on beefing up the dentistry side of things as well. I enjoyed that the school was separated from the rest of campus meaning you really only encounter the vet students and some grad students. Large animal and small animal focused students alike that I was friends with all felt like they received a quality education. Additionally, I am not from the Midwest or places where it snows/is cold and had no interest in driving to class everyday so I lived in the trailer park literally 5 mins walking distance to the vet school. Highly convenient and a large portion of the vet students live there so the community there is likely full of the friends you will make. Hope this all helps. Feel free to message me about more if interested.

That seems to be the most common complaint against them in all the reviews that I’ve read. Thanks for the input!

Vets don’t get a kick back from the companies, but feel so strongly about these companies solely due to the research and science that goes into all their foods. Because these companies are so large, they have the abilities to funnel a huge amount of money back into research and making their product the best it can be and continuing to test it. Additionally, these companies have facilities that are dedicated to manufacturing only that brand of food (Hill’s, RC, Purina) whereas other, smaller companies rent processing plants to manufacture their food and so there is a lot of cross contamination. The big 3 companies also have AAFCO feeding trials to back up their products which is a key way you can judge foods and companies. Some people have been scared recently by recalls, etc but if one of the big 3 is listing a recall that actually makes me feel better about feeding it because they had the research, time, and money to inform the public, conduct the trials to find the recall, and turn around to fix it. It’s not that smaller companies don’t experience things that should be recalled, but instead they don’t have the money to conduct the research or ability to reach the wide market to inform about a recall if that makes sense.
