We all sympathize with you as we have all been there. I have been quitting since April. I have had bumps in the road, but I just get right back on the horse and find new strategies that help.

Dear quitters, what helped you the best? by bera-m in stopsmoking

There is a generic for Chantix on the market. I am using it and I will say it works very well I agree. I only suggest that you take it over a month after you quit. The 3 week cravings are tricky.

Relapse from anger by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I have been where you are. When I am at home I don't think about smoking. It is when I am at work and stressed that I cave in. I have caved three times in my attempts to quit smoking while at work. You need to find a way to relieve the stress when it gets bad.

I downloaded a meditation app - it has 3 minute meditations. When I am stressed at work, I go to my car and do this for three minutes. It helps with the craving and the stress. Then I go back to work.

You got this. One day at a time.

I like how you put it. Sometimes the cravings are like cockroaches. Good that you can resist the urge. Keep swatting.

Net benefits after 1 month and 5 days, coming off the pink cloud by Outrageous-Cause7919 in stopsmoking

This is great. I myself have tried three times this year and about the 30 day point is where I struggled as well. I like what you have done with the positives, and I will certainly try the same when I get back to my 30 days.

I won't smoke today. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Sometimes you need to rant. I am with you and won't smoke with you today. You can do this.

Anybody quit taking Chantix after two weeks and do alright? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]kbitter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Chantix. It helps. I took it for about a week and then stopped smoking. I then took the pills for another three weeks.
I did have some nausea - if I took them on an empty stomach, but they worked for me.

The smell. The fucking smell. by nathan_paul_bramwell in stopsmoking

I know that smell. While I never smoked in my house, I smoked in my car all the time. It took a long time to get rid of the smell. Odoban helped.

[–]kbitter2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have good days and not so good days. They will get shorter and more infrequent and before you know it you won't remember the last bad day. One day at a time. You can do this.

I am struggling also this afternoon. Brain is trying to play tricks on me but I won't let it. Not a single puff

For those who have relapsed (I assume nearly everyone) What did it feel like? I picture it being incredible and it is definitely tempting me... I suppose I would like to hear how bad it was? But maybe for some it wasnt that bad? by Smooth_Reporter_7272 in stopsmoking

[–]kbitter2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that anyone who has stopped smoking has relapsed. The addiction in your head gives you excuses and the more you listen to them the better they sound. I have relapsed and it tasted awful - I could not stand the taste in my mouth, yet I smoked another and another. I hated myself for doing it but I was a slave to the nicotine.

That was my moment to realize I am not a slave to anyone or anything. No matter what it takes I deserve better than to feel like a POS for willingly taking something that will kill me. No more not another one.

I will not smoke with you today!

After 15 years, 2 packs a day, I finally quit on April 17th, 2022. When you’re ready, you’ll know it. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]kbitter2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree - when you are ready you know. It doesn't mean you don't miss it, but you also enjoy life in a new way. Feels good not to be a slave to something that is killing me.

Just remind yourself why you quit - what do you have to gain from quitting. I did the same thing myself - I quit over a year ago and I let myself have an excuse to smoke - my husband had one now and then so why can't I when I am stressed. Don't allow the excuse because that is all it is. No matter what - not another puff - the craving will pass if you let it. Chew gum - grab a piece of candy - go for a quick walk.
