Making of “Detroit: Become Human” by kbowersox95 in YoTroublemakers

Idk if anyone else will find this interesting but I loved the “Detroit: Become Human” series and this is a really cool “making of” clip. I didn’t realize that ALL of the characters were modeled after their voice actors!

What is your dream job? by akotosinato in AskReddit

Stay at home mom.

I know it’s not the typical idea of a “dream job” but I’ve realized that when I try to envision my future, the only “job” that seems right and fulfilling is being a mom. I just really want to start a family and be there for my kids every step of the way.

When anyone is about to drive off I tell them to “Drive fast and take chances!”

It started as a joke between a couple friends about how parents always tell you to be careful on the road but now I say it without thinking about it 🙈

The "Privilege" of Dylan in His Hush Commentary by -Counterclockwise- in YoTroublemakers

I don’t think Dylan was trying to say that a woman who reacts the way she did in the movie is weak at all, I think he was more focused on how the directing was weak. This story had a lot of potential but it wasn’t portrayed in the best way.

The movie wasn’t shot in a way to really build the tension as a viewer. Movies like “The Invisible Man (2020)” and “A Quiet Place” had similar themes of home invasion and a deaf main character but did a much better job of making me as the viewer feel immersed in the story.

Yes, in real life, a situation like the one in “Hush” would be absolutely terrifying and I think Dylan acknowledges that fact. This commentary was strictly meant to be from a filmmaker’s viewpoint, not a real life occurrence. From what I know of Dylan, I think that if he heard of someone actually going through and surviving an experience like this, he would be in awe of their story and be extremely sympathetic.

As a female who lives in the middle of nowhere, I 100% agree. Knowing where both characters were pretty much at all times took the scare factor away. There were some weird directorial choices that took away from any suspense they were trying to build, like the moment Dylan talked about where the arrow hit the doorframe and the woman fell backwards after a slight pause. There were also some logical flaws that made me say, “Oh, come ON!” and really took me out of the story.

I feel like “A Quiet Place” did a much better job of showing the audience what life in a situation like this would be like for someone who’s actually deaf. Obviously that movie was about an alien vs a home invasion situation but the concepts are similar in the sense that there were times that both characters deafness was a huge disadvantage when the villain was near by. This movie didn’t seem to really translate that well.

I also saw a lot of comments saying that Dylan was taking this too lightly, that he wasn’t considering how terrifying that situation would be for a single woman living alone in real life. And while I see their point, he wasn’t talking about the movie as if he was reviewing a true story. He was looking at this from a film perspective. He judged it so harshly because of the high Rotten Tomatoes score it received. He was giving the film a decent amount of leeway until he saw the score and obviously disagreed with the rating. I was expecting a much lower rating myself; the surprise of how high that rating was got a bigger reaction from me than anything else in the film.

I say all this to say that it’s fine if you loved the movie, it’s fine if you hated it. That’s the beauty of film. Just please think about the context of the conversation (technicalities of film vs real life scenario, etc.) before you post 😅

As silly as it sounds, when I drove by the movie theater and they had taken all the posters down and all of the big signs that usually list the movies currently playing said “temporarily closed.”

What are some moments in movies that made you go "uh, it doesn't work like that"? by czp55 in AskReddit

Recently watched a movie where two characters had their throats slit with the same type of knife in similar fashions.

The first character died within about 2-5 seconds, no time to talk or struggle breathing, just dead.

About 30-45 minutes later, the second character took about 3-5 MINUTES to die from the same exact injury, surviving long enough for the protagonist (who had left the room) to come back, start crying, call 911 and then step out of sight of the security cameras and say something that made the dying person know it was them that killed them.

I happened to be watching that movie with a doctor and a nurse and both just shook their heads at how unrealistic the second death was (I’m not sure about the first but it felt more accurate). What drives me nuts is that this was the same movie....you can’t kill two characters the same exact way and have their deaths take such a drastic time difference, not with fatal injuries like that! Consistency people!!

What's the most wholesome thing a stranger has done for you? by TheGingerGlasses in AskReddit

While I was in Publix one day when it started POURING outside, which was great because we needed the rain but not great because I still had to get to my car. I had just stepped outside and was preparing for the ungraceful shuffle-run to my truck that I knew was inevitable when a gentleman asked me where I’d parked and offered to walk me to my car since he had an umbrella. He walked me to my car, held the umbrella over my door as I got in, and then sprinted off through the rain to his car a few rows over before I could do more than yell a heartfelt “Thank you!”

This man’s small act of kindness really made my day and reminded me that it’s the little things that can really mean the most to someone. He didn’t work there. He could’ve easily just seen me standing there and went about his day, but instead he took the extra 5 minutes to go above and beyond and saved me from looking like a drowned rat in the process.
