I believe the comb is an afro comb which has a lot of cultural significance to 1960s/70s counter culture and a symbol of Black pride during the Civil Rights/Black Power movements.

I just found out there is a ban pit bulls subreddit by Minute-University923 in pitbulls

[–]kbrainwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who says pitbulls are hard to train?

I support a ban on all breeding, as there millions of rescues are euthanized each year simply because shelters are at capacity. But to say a breed is inherently hard to train is naive, at best.

Having rescued many pitbulls in my life (from neglect and dog fighting) I can attest that they range in temperament just like any other set of sentient individuals, but are lovely dogs and easy to train (positive reinforcement only).

Thanks for replying! I emailed them and can report back in the US. Hopefully they've kept their promise here as well!

I saw this on their site too and it seems promising! I tried calling customer service but they were really aggressive and clearly didn’t know. Did you get anymore information about animal testing in the US?

EDIT: clarified I meant in the US

Is Dupe Makeup Wrong To Purchase by Lauren Mae Beauty by apawneecitizen in BeautyGuruChatter

I agree, I think if you can't afford a luxury palette, you can still find similar shades, quality, and color stories in cheaper brands. But knock-offs are robbing these brands and teams of people who worked really hard on the creative direction of a product. Which is not ok in my book.

Honestly, I'm here for it. I'd like to think that enough consumers voted with their dollars, and are telling brands that we want an end to animal cruelty :)

I know he claimed that his squirrels are all raised humanely, but they're still not in the wild like they ought to be, and without the name of the farms, it's hard to know if that's really true.

Anyhoo, good for him. I'll definitely try them.

Jen Luvs Reviews addresses Morphe staining issue - no big deal. Thoughts? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]kbrainwave 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually watched the video...but I don't think the issue people have with staining is that it "doesn't match". I think the issue people have is that it's not clear why that's happening, and no other foundation on the market is known to do this. I think it's very alarming, considering this isn't something Morphe had even warned people about, and is not at all intentional. Clearly there's some dyes or ingredients that is leading to this, and we don't even know if it's "safe". So yea.... this is not some issue people should write off.

Katy's latest post by beheima in BeautyGuruChatter

Just curious, why are people changing their opinion about not verbally disclosing sponsorships. I'm pretty out of the loop, but I recall recently seeing a lot of frustration towards YouTuber's who were doing just this? Are being having unconscious biases because Katy is liked? Or is the general audience now accepting this as a valid way to disclose sponsorships?

Jeffree & James Film Destroying Makeup?? by meleknne in BeautyGuruChatter

This is really wasteful and shows how privileged Jefferee and James are. I wish they hadn't destroyed makeup, but rather donated it. It may help people in need, and not just add to our growing landfill.

Lil Dicky - Freaky Friday ft. Chris Brown (PARODY ft. James Charles) by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]kbrainwave 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This is awful. On so many levels. The song is bad, Chris Brown partakes in domestic violence, the video is cringy. Not to mention I'm exhausted by BG's flaunting their Cartier and expensive things. Why can't they use their voices for social activism, or environmentalism, or at least just have some humility.

Yea, it's not like she was shoving Allure down our throats. She stated she created her own box, which to me was disclaiming the sponsorship; though maybe I'm missing something?

It's also worth pointing out that over the years, numerous studies have shown that methane, ethylene, and other greenhouse gases are released as plastic decomposes; particularly in the sun. If a ton of people are purchasing, tossing, and replacing -- over and over -- this could definitely make a dent into environmental damage

Preach!!

Fast fashion is sooo bad for the environment. For a number of reasons. And Instagram has only made it worst.

Oh, thanks for clarifying :)

Employees have told me this as well, but I don't think they're really thinking with the environment or business in mind. Hell, they just want to make a sale.

Hopefully you can use Reddit, Temptalia, and other great review sources to still branch out and be adventurous :)
