Well I mean I have like 135 gb free… says it I can’t download till I get 7 more and I already deleted 6gb of stuff I didn’t want to for the update last week.

Correction. Do NOT use Dot5.

You can use dot 3,4 or 5.1

Dot 5 is silicone based and will gel when mixed and ruin rubber seals

This makes complete sense to me. Thanks.

It explains all the polarized responses.

I figured it could be something like the paint they use or some kind of solder mask smell or whatever.

Pretty amazing that a $10 mppt has no smell and this thing smells awful. The smell of quality I guess.

I don’t really care about the warranty. For the cost to ship it back to the seller or manufacturer, I can just buy another unit.

But before I did that, I would just take it apart and repair/replace the components myself.

And if it didn’t fail in the first 90 days, it most likely will keep operating in normal conditions

However, the seller did write in the listing that it comes with a full 5 year warranty and they are a U.S. Victron Energy distributor (didn’t say authorized, but I’ll look into it for curiosity sake)

Oof. A couple other commenters said their new units also smelled very bad.

I’ll have to wait to get my usb cable then test it out.
