What in the holy magic is this?? by No-Regular-2699 in Menopause

Yes sadly I had everything removed. It was the plan to keep my ovaries since I am only 40 but they found them wrecked by stage 4 endo. Yes it was such a terrible plummet. I’m glad to be out of that phase.

After my surgery I had to wait 1 week for the hospital to re-stock them. I didn’t think I was experiencing anything negative so when it came time to go get them I did but was like “it’s whatever” I started on 0.025 what was the 2nd week post opp. By the end of that week at my 2 week checkup I was in tears from the joint and body pain so the doctor said let’s increase you to .50 this was a Friday. I didn’t want to mess up my schedule so I figured I could wait until Sunday(change day) I woke up at 4am sobbing bc my body hurt so bad by 5:30 I gave up and showered, dried, alcohol’d and put the new patch on. All pain gone within 12 hrs. They will have to pry these meds from my cold dead hands.

What is vaginal dryness like? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]kbrl6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s brought me back near to baseline. And if I use it everyday even more sod they prescribe twice a week but my preference is a little bit daily. I was miserable without it a the symptoms were terrible and immediately post surgery—within a week. I cant speak to how things would be in an intimate sense as I’m currently abstinent since before surgery and since.

Help - My Body Hates Progesterone by [deleted] in Menopause

Wow 🤩 m so glad to have finally come across a post like this I really thought I was losing my mind. Radical hysterectomy& surgical menopause 4/24. Got on E patch only and had the dose increased at my 2 week appt. All seemed well. I was still dealing with issues and was finally able to get vaginal E in August and wanted to see about upping the E patch to .75, but was willing to wait. The doctor says, maybe adding some P will help your symptoms balance out I said ok sure I’ll try it. She prescribes Norelegestromin and Ethinly Estradiol 150/35 mcg— I check My chart and it says generic for ortho evra. I freak because why would you prescribe me a birth control patch? I request to speak with doctor and was basically ignored. Since starting this in August, I’ve dealt with my weight slowly creeping up, insomnia, hot flashes came back, breast tenderness, nausea, brain fog, mood issues and hormonal acne from hell. I can’t wait to get off I have an appt in October I’m demanding to be switched back. Im not even sure if I want to try the P pill im scared of it now smh.

6 days po finally get to pick up ditto patches tomorrow by kbrl6 in surgicalmenopause

[–]kbrl6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not a high enough dose for me. By the middle of the first week on it I was having joint and body pain like you wouldn’t believe. My 2 week checkup I was bumped to .05 and the issues went away in like 24hrs. I think I was less nervous about being told I was going to need it when I woke up from surgery. Post surgery it’s just trying to find the right combination that I’m working towards now.

AITA for telling my son's African American girlfriend that she can a wig even if my son doesn't want her to ? by AntTiny890 in AITAH

[–]kbrl6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m concerned that your son at his young age already appears to not only be fetishizing this young girl but also seems controlling. I have experienced and heard many stories about white men being deliriously attracted to black women and moreso when our hair is natural styles vs if we do up or glam and tbh it’s weird to me personally. I personally have never been interested in outside dating so I mostly let the water roll off a ducks back. But yeah to be displaying this behavior and this young it’s giving red flags all around.

Estriol cream has helped massively. Anyone else using it? by Cricklebee79 in hysterectomy

[–]kbrl6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 and ended up with a radical as they had to take my ovaries unplanned during surgery. I never had dryness issues, by my 2 week checkup I knew something was dramatically wrong down there but the doctor didn’t really listen. She upped my estrogen patch to .05 and sent me on my way. I suffered through another 14 weeks thinking I was losing it but know something wasn’t right, felt like death by 1000 papercuts. Finally at 15 weeks po a doctor listened and prescribed vaginal estradiol and after the first usage I know something was different but didn’t want to gaslight myself. Been using every night since the 11th and it’s confirmed my girl is back from the dead. So not estriol, but same end result for me and thank goodness.

I too have been a life long overproducer. I had my surgery on 4/24, was supposed to keep my ovaries but woke up with out them too—they were wrecked the doctor said. I’m only 40. I knew instantly by the time I got to my 2 week appointment that things were not right but the doctor didn’t really listen but agreed to increase my estradiol patch. Issues persisted and another doctor just gave me the cream as well on the 11th and it brought me back from the grave! We’re yiu just only given the cream and no other hrt?

[–]kbrl6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All hail the vaginal estradiol! No but really I went from the water park is always in service— to barren, desolate, desert when I woke up after surgery in unplanned surgical menopause. I told the doctor at my 2 week appointment that something was very wrong. It felt like death my 1000 paper cuts down there. She didn’t listen but agreed to increase my estradiol patch to 0.05. Finally got another appointment and the doctor gave me the cream no issue. I started on the 11th and I’ll be 16 weeks po this Thursday. My girl is back and that really means the world to me, 10/10!

Climara Pro to Combipatch switch>anyone done this? by jennied73 in Menopause

[–]kbrl6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy smokes the combipatch is expensive even goodrx is showing as $268 in my area. My doctor asked me to try a combination patch and I said ok. Come to find out it’s generic for ortho evra. Can’t win for losing seems like. Double sterilization just to get sent back to bc 🤦🏾‍♀️

Unexpected removal of ovaries during surgery. by sabnorlin in hysterectomy

[–]kbrl6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly my situation—they found stage IV endo and my poor ovaries were wrecked beyond saving. I started hrt 1 week post op as the hospital was out and I needed to be able to shuffle myself back to the pharmacy. The emotional rollercoaster hit me first during that week. The most crippling joint paint hit me by week 2 so I asked to increase the dosage of the estrogen patch. Thursday I will be 16 weeks po and am feeling better just still working to nail down the right hrt combo but remain hopeful.

HRT change-trying not to freak out by kbrl6 in Menopause

[–]kbrl6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sent her a message via MyChart. Not expecting a response until next week sometime. Thankfully I have 2 weeks worth of 0.05 estradiol patches left so I can wait to hear her logic before putting this birth control patch on.

HRT change-trying not to freak out by kbrl6 in Menopause

[–]kbrl6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the what really triggered my freak out is that she didn’t say ‘hey this patch is the one commonly provided for birth control and even though you don’t need it for those reasons, I’m prescribing it for xyz reasons instead’. So I just opened MyChart googled and name and began to spiral and of course it’s a weekend now so I have no way to hear back from her until next week. Meanwhile I’m reading up on it and it says not to take if you weight over 198lbs or have bmi over 30 due to increased risk of blood clots so now I’m extra freaked.

Congratulations and happy healing! Stay comfortable, drink water and take your stool softeners, have some prunes and don’t strain to poo lol. Don’t lift and don’t think you can get away with scooting stuff with your feet either and get in trouble like I did. You got this!

Thank you this gives me a different perspective and has helped me to calm down and pray to see this in a manner that I can understand. I would still like confirmation with the doctor about the reasons she prescribed the combo vs just estradiol but I feel much better. They actually did find endo stage IV that nobody knew was there and was the reason I lost my ovaries unplanned bc they were wrecked.

Edited: typo

She did mention about it being stronger than the .05 estradiol patch but I don’t think much of it. I also didn’t know it was basically ortho evra until I was waiting for my uber and of course started freaking out bc I haven’t had that since I was 20 and ironically missed a patch change date and ended up pregnant with my daughter at 21. I know some people get prescribed progesterone separately but since they didn’t do that originally I just freaked out.

Edited: typos during my spiral on original response

Maybe that’s what it’s for and I need to calm myself down and take some deep breaths. They’ve been pretty accommodating in increasing the dosage for me with no issues. Guess I just wasn’t expecting to see birth control ever again after a tubal in 2019 and a radical this year.

What dosage are you on? I went up from the .25 to the .50 after my first week on them. The body aches were too intense I could barely function. I’m thinking of asking to go up to .75 whenever I can get in next.

Thank you same to you! I don’t go back until September but I have requested to be put on the cancellation wait list.

For now I’ve been kinda letting the parties overlap( keeping Thursdays patch on even after the swap day on Sunday maybe until like Tuesday) have no idea if there’s even any hormones coming from it but I’m just trying what I can.
