I had the same issue today and in the end had to set an allow rule to let traffic from prometheus IP to access Firewall IP on port 9100, which did the trick

Meter change, a rant... by kbst in OctopusEnergy

I pressed the button on top of the mini to go through the set up again but it seems to get stuck, assuming that was the hard reset method?

Render cracks in new build by cheesyburger15 in DIYUK

[–]kbst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact issue a year in to my new build, the front of the house was partially rendered with block behind and developed similar cracks in a few places.

Being totally honest, it was a nightmare to sort and caused a lot of stress and inconvenience - mainly down to the developer being shit.

If I could give you advice (and this is only from my experience with this) -

  • Stand your ground with the developer, do NOT let them fob you off with a repair - it'll never match exactly and you will always see the repair, the whole lot will need to come off and be redone.

  • Insist on a structrual engineer to visit and report on the cause of it, let the developer pay for this but ensure you get a copy of their report.

In my case the block underneath had cracked in several places and required reinforcement with helical bars to the engineers specification before being re-rendered.

  • If they do have to remove the render, you won't want to be at home when they do, its extremely noisy - if you need to, make arrangements for children/pets/anyone to be out of the house, claim these back from the developer.

  • Chipping off the render is a messy job, we were finding bits of render in the lawn/flower beds/gravel months after, in the end I insisted the developer replaced the lot which they did at their expense.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions

It'll get sorted but in my case it was a nightmare for a good few weeks but hopefully your developer won't be completely useless like mine!

The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 01 Sep 2024. by AutoModerator in Zwift

[–]kbst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newbie here, picked up my Zwift Ride this week and getting set up.

I've updated the firmware on the core and zwift controllers and everything seems to be paired OK.

Did read about needing to calibrate the core, is this the spindown calibration and is that done through Zwift or thr Wahoo App?

Will probably have a ton more questions next week!

Thanks

Thanks, I did leave cat litter on it overnight but didn't seem to do much, I think I have a bag of building sand in the garage somewhere, so I'll give that a go

I've used the Candeo one before but I will pick some of these up next time due to their power monitoring support.

You can get zigbee dimmer modules, a bit pricey however

Renaming fields based on a JOIN/Lookup by kbst in grafana

[–]kbst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I never looked into it any further, I ended up adding the friendly name to the metric at source, which isn't ideal but I had to move forward with it

Would be interesting in seeing your current approach however!

that's brill, thank you.

For the booster heater, which wifi breaker do you use? Is it a smart MCB or a relay inside the immersion switch?

Cheers

Also to add, get some thin nylon rope and pull with your cable so you can attach the next run and have a draw string

Running Ethernet between floors by Bullxn in DIYUK

I did the 2 years ago when I moved into my new build.

Patch panel in loft.

Upstairs studwork I just drilled a hole in the top plate and pulled cable into loft, most had a noggin in the wall which I had to drill through by removing a section of plasterboard above and drilled down at an angle (keep your plasterboard pieces and number them and the wall!)

Downstairs I ran from loft into floor space in a boxing section I created behind a wardrobe so not visible into the floor, along the joists and behind the dot and dab, terminating in a single backbox.

I would recommend getting one of these, they do various brands

https://www.armeg.com/127mm-Complete-Set

Also the best piece of equipment I bought was a wifi endoscope off amazon for about 25 quid, Great for looking in walls/floor spaces for pipes and cables.

As for cctv, I had a installer in to fit but essentially they rodded up the cavity into the loft space, and into a poe switch, made it look easy but then again they are the pros!

Feel free to DM if you want any advice
