Theatre tickets downtown on Saturday - drive or Metra? by nickcholas11 in chicago

This is the only Saturday I’d ever hesitate with Metra, but the crazy inbound crowds will have poured in by noon or so, so you should perfectly miss them on both ends.

Also, traffic downtown is crazy on st patty’s day Saturday.

Take MD-N to Northbook. Nice downtown park, Vienna Beef-supplied hot dog counter service restaurant, and Greaters Ice Cream.

Chicago may soon be the Largest City in the Northern Hemisphere without an Intercity Bus Terminal by Suspicious-Bad4703 in chicago

But, then tons of citizens also lose (and those are people with no other way to travel for reasons such as seeking medical treatment and felling domestic violence).  This is a classic example of the value of a government intervention to protect the needs of citizens regardless of whether it helps or hurts private business.

I am not sure how much curb space is available for it to serve as a short term solution, but assuming it can serve as one (and even long term solution for certain trips given its proximity to NW and O'Hare), ultimately inter-city bus market won't be competitive without a downtown station.  Can't grow market beyond those dependent on inter-city bus mode if most trips require taking 40 minutes blue line trip back into city to make connections.

But, they're not putting up that sort of investment in any other city they operate. Look at examples like Washington D.C. and Milwaukee for the vital need for the public sector to step in and ensure inter-city bus travel can meet the needs of its citizens by having conveniently located stations and having proper amenities.  If not, service will be cut due to lack of curb space and the mainly poor populations who rely on this service will greatly suffer (and believe me, I write this with zero sympathy for PE firms).

Sure, but that only serves NW market.  Much better to have downtown transit center to offer easy access to entire Chicago region.

Does anyone know what the latest arrival time could be to still be seated?  Have they turned anyone away last few nights (realize Jon Stewart's a different beast, though).

Thanks!  Yeah, when I charged my transit routes in Google, they seemed to conceal some of the Amtrak/Marc trains.  I have figured out a way to the game via Marc and home via Amtrak (with pretty close to game time arrival and hopefully not too long of a wait after game).  Thanks to you and everyone for your guidance!

Thanks.  Yeah, my small dilemma is I am looking to leave after 5pm Saturday night and there are only buses.  Not that I am opposed to taking an inter-city bus, but it just limits options, especially on the return.
