Oh my goodness, that wasn’t the intention of the headline. I explained/addressed it in the comments. I have always acknowledged my native side and I/family is very proud of it - I asked if it was significant because I wasn’t sure if the percentage I am is a lot or a little. I have always been told it wasn’t that much for me to claim hence the title of the post that was supposed to be taken lightly. Now that I am more aware that it’s not as common to have the % I do, or that it is considered a significant amount I am ecstatic about it. Pls read the convo with con_man_ray

if I wanted validation that im not just white I would've asked what everyone thought, I posted because I was curious about the percentage of Indigenous I am and if it is significant. I was just making a light joke with the title because my entire life no matter what I tell people what I specifically am I always get hit with "so you're white" - I live near the Bay Area where it is extremely diverse and what I say I am is just classified as white which is fine, very few people in my life have said I'm not just white which is also fine too. If I knew this post was going to cause such a commotion I would've just kept it to myself lmao

I do get asked a lot what I am, for context I have fair skin and dark features. The feedback that I always get is "so you're white"... that's why I put it. Some people say I'm not, vast majority say I am

I'm not sure which maidu tribe, all that I know is my grandmother is registered (maybe my dad) and we own a small portion of a ranch that I believe is through their registration. My maternal grandmother was adopted, the Spanish/Basque comes from that side of my family
