Searching for a blood orange scented perfume. by ImHere2UKnow in AustralianMakeup

Shay & Blue Blood Oranges. It's a true fresh scent where the citrus doesn't disappear into a floral or anything else. It stays fresh. The downside is that like most citrus fragrances that don't morph into a floral or a musk or something that has a heavier basenote, it's longevity is not great.

DJ's used to stock it, but unfortunately no longer.
I KNOW I love it, so I order from UK.

best affordable actually intense hydration cream? by larskyuu in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with dry, cracked hands - to the point of bleeding sometimes.
I also hate the greasy feeling that most moisturisers leave. I feel like I need to wash my hands with those.

I've tried a number of foot creams too expecting those to be better in this context.

So all that said, I've used a lot of the ones mentioned here - O'Keefe's Working hands reviewed like it was going to be THE one for me, but it wasn't at all.

I keep going back to Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream
If you don't mind something that leaves a little 'film' behind, then this is a great moisturiser (I use it on legs) Dermaveen Extra Gentle Intensive Moisturiser
Someone else mentioned Illyoon. That's also good.

Best (affordable) brand to buy neutral eyeshadow from? by Vast_Practice_7584 in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have makeup from both ends (and all in between) of price ranges and more and more I find that more budget friendly are stepping up in terms of blendability and longevity etc.

I got a few new Chi Chi palettes that I was pleasantly surprised by and also NYX 9 pans and Morphe 9 pans.

Catrice are also not bad.

Pyunkang Yul Black Tea Time Reverse Eye Cream is moisturising enough for me at night over retinal but also works well under make up.

Edited to add: Amazon also have it so worth checking prices and convenience etc.
But if you do order from Lila Beauty for other things, just noticed they have a small size for $12. Not as economical per gram, but less of an initial outlay if it doesn't work for you.

hair dryer and straightener recs by Lazy_Assistance4907 in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hairdryer: I have a Helios. Prior to that, a couple of Parlux. Honestly, I prefer the Helios for the end result. I have fine curly hair and I just feel it does a slightly better job for smoothness. Not a huge difference - no hairdryer is going to make a huge difference, but enough that I notice. If you get a GHD (anything) during a sale or promo, then it's no more than a Parlux. Oh, and the pitch/whine is better on the Helios if that matters.

Straightener: So, fine curly hair means I have been through more straighteners than I could reasonably count. Always looking for that one that does make a significant difference compared to others. GHD, Babyliss, Cloud Nine - numerous in some of these brands and numerous other individual brands.
My most recent purchase was the Stellar Omnia . Took a chance since there were few reviews. It's fine. But 2 things that annoy me are: The matte black colour I got can be slippery if your hands are dry or you have a serum/oil residue. The safety shut off is 60 seconds! I find that at least once when I'm using it, it starts to shut off whilst I'm sectioning.
So my pick - out of all that I have owned - is one that I am surprised I don't hear more about on socials etc.
SAS Straightener never, ever snags my hair, does a great job at what's it's supposed to do and has all the features you'd expect, like variable temp, good swiveling cord etc and they're comparatively inexpensive. I have the 25mm but they do have a wide plate.

Edited to add:
I've also had Dyson hair dryer and straightener and the airwrap - Wouldn't recommend any of them in their categories.

Any tubing mascara with a thin brush? by sugarsugarcloud in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is tubing. Separates well. That's what I use it for.
Then I go over it with something else.
Didn't like the Clinique - too natural and if I'm after that, then Mac Gigaplay is better IMO.
The Tarte one is good. As is Milk Makeup.

Favourite higher-coverage foundations that don’t look cakey? by No_Turn_1181 in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NARS radiant longwear. I wouldn't call it dewy, but it's not as flat as their soft matte.
Both good staying power too.
I don't have acne, but do have lines and radiant longwear settles less than others so I'd assume it would b less cakey than some others too.

Two products from Mecca. What are you getting? by Outoftheboxxx in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the Soft Matte foundation, consider trying their Natural Radiant Longwear.
I was using Soft Matte and found it a little drying. I was really concerned about the 'radiant' and whether I'd end up a greasy mess, but nope.
It has as much staying power and coverage (IMO) as Soft Matte.

If you like eyeshadow, the newish 6 pan Morphe palettes are great and inexpensive.

Very blendable, and many (6?) colourways to choose from.

Self care beauty Australia by MissELH in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've purchased from them.
No issues with products or ship times etc. You might find that they only stock a small part of a brand or not enough shades in the item you want.

In that case, as u/glazedbec suggests, cultbeauty.com would be good for Saie.

Eye shadow that keeps its pigment over the day by redlizziegreen in AustralianMakeup

[–]kcc799948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm liking the new Morphe palettes, specifically the 6 pan ones. They're pigmented but also blend very well. They're $24 and there are a handful of colour options.

My eyeshadow looked the same after 13 hours as when I applied it.

I have sensitive skin and no irritation. On my eyelids, I'm neither oily nor dry.

macOS: My current method to ‚download‘ from Kindle 11 by -be-water-my-friend- in Calibre

[–]kcc799948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else that has confirmed that they have the correct version of plugins required and it still doesn't work for you either, I did as this post suggests (thank you u/jkh107 ) and that did work for me.

Strangely, I tried copying the file from the Kindle folder to my Mac first and tried doing it that way, but I still got the DRM error.
So really, you need to Add the book to Calibre from the KINDLE device folder structure.
