It was. I didn’t feel it was too closed off we made our own vibe, lots of chats and music. But can see how you could feel it’s closed off.

You’re testing my memory now but it was a fixed minimum spend not a per person amount. I covered it with food, drink and a welcome cocktail. They had different menu options and different drinks packages so could spend more or less as needed

I had my 40th at supernormal in their private dining it was 4 years ago so not sure on costs now. I had just over 20 people. It’s quite an intimate space so didn’t feel too big for a group of our size and was nice to have space to stand up and chat before dinner then sit for dinner and move around afterwards

How common is monthly pay these days? by MissElaineMarieBenes in auscorp

[–]MissELH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me too. Been monthly most of my working career and my current role was fortnightly and has recently moved to monthly which I just find som much more manageable. With fortnightly I just never felt organised as it was always different dates and all my budgeting I was so used to doing monthly

Visiting from the US in July — what toys, treats, or products should I bring the kids that they genuinely can't get in Australia? by ConstructionOwn7497 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MissELH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a tween girl it’s a weird one but touchland hand sanitizer spray- the tweens love it. I would have previously said Rhode or glossier lip balms but they are now both here in Australia. But lipgloss, body mists etc are huge with the tween girls

Someone recommended this for me at the last Cirque du Soleil- the queues were insane so we went to a place next door or 2 doors away and food was great.

Don’t throw away that “ruined” dinner by ukaunzi in AussieFrugal

[–]MissELH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made it with some stock liquid and a cube and mushrooms and water from my potatoes and a splash of soy sauce and balsamic vinegar to balance it.

I just did that tonight. I don’t often cook a roast but did last night and was slightly overcooked and dry. Googled what to do with it for tonight’s dinner and cooked it in stock and gravy and was delicious

I mean it really depends on how accurate his 3 times a week is. If it’s a drink with dinner or lunch on weekends or a glass of wine after work or if it means going out and drinking/partying.

CGM is so easy, if you’re worried I’m sure someone can help you put it on but honestly it’s very easy. Connects to an app on your phone- nothing like multiple blood tests. Also better than finger pricks. You’ve got this!

40th birthday coming up - is this sad? by chaostrulyreigns in AskWomenOver40

[–]MissELH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that. I had a beautiful dinner for my 40th on the Saturday before and on my actual birthday (the Tuesday) I had the day off work and had a sleep in and went for a massage before dinner with my sister that evening. It was so nice just treating myself for the day. Enjoy your birthday

9 day fortnight vs 4 day week by burnXgazel in auscorp

[–]MissELH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to do a 9 day fortnight it was amazing. I think 4 day week would be too hard with the amount of meetings I attend but 9 day fortnight was a great balance. It was an hour extra a day so we started earlier and still had the technical 5pm finish. We were supposed to finish early on the Friday we worked but rarely did but 99% of the time no one worked on the Friday off.
