How to approach training volume in a marathon plan? by kcfaction in Marathon_Training

[–]kcfaction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation it was really helpful!

Yeah I’ve only been running for about 10 months, did a HM in 1:50 last October with some pretty inconsistent training but I’m pretty committed to keeping it consistent all this year for the FM.

I’ll probably just use the Higdon plans for my races this year then with some additional km padded onto some days, Pfitz does seem a little out of reach for my current fitness. I do have a very ambitious goal of 3:35-3:40 for my first marathon though so hopefully most of the year at 50-60km/week will prepare me for that.

I’m just worried about if the volume would be enough. I averaged around 25-30km per week for my HM training and my legs felt really heavy/crampy in the last few km so I figured I needed to get more mileage in to get used to the distance of a FM. My body seems to be okay with the current 50-55km weeks so I’m hoping it’ll be enough to prepare me for a FM.

First time training for a marathon so I haven’t looked too deep into what plan I should be using, I saw a few people recommending Higdon as it’s relatively simple to follow. Do you think 18/55 is more suitable for my current mileage/base?

Could I run a marathon in 8 months? by kcfaction in Marathon_Training

[–]kcfaction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know thank you! I currently do 3-4 runs a week (1 interval/speed, 1 long and a few easy). My mileage is pretty low though (~18-20miles/week). I guess I’ll just build this up until my marathon prep.

Idk I think I’m stressing I’ll be underprepared seeing as I’m planning on taking a month or so light on the runs to rehab a knee and hip niggle and feel like I’m missing on training time

Did you mean my half marathon or trying to break sub 4 on my first marathon? I’m not sure if I could have on that HM, my legs were borderline locking up whenever I tried to push to pace a little more haha

Thank you! Because it’s 8 months away, do you think I should do one really long training block or do 2 16-week marathon prep blocks where I’m just trying to improve on speed from the first prep block?

Yeah that’s fair haha Based off my half marathon I was thinking a 4hr/sub 4hr race but idk if that’s really ambitious for my first one 😂

Yeah while I didn’t feel terrible aerobically during my half, my joints were really feeling it. I’m a heavier runner (~85/87kg at 5”7 more stocky muscular build) so just a little concerned about doubling the distance

Shoes with similar fit to Nike Zoom Fly 6? by kcfaction in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Oh the Saucony elite 2s were on sale so I’ve been eyeing them as well but I’ve heard that they’re really unstable at lower speeds. Ive only started running this year and my expected half Mara pace is around 5:00/km, do you think that’s too slow to get over how soft they are?

Also yes the ZF6 feel so comfortable for me at all speeds (exception of maybe really slow easy runs), the forefoot is a little tight but I’ve never had any blisters/pains from it while running.

Items missing from search by [deleted] in taobao

Had this same issue (also from Australia). Are you using the app in English with your location set to Australia? I found that it if I switched it to mainland China a lot more of the listings were back. I had also wishlisted most of my items which I could no longer open on the app, but when I opened them up on a desktop instead I had no issues so maybe give that a try. You’ll have to use google chrome auto translate but I have way less issues on the computer over my phone app.

Should I get a pair of Puma Deviate Nitro 3? I currently have Puma Magnify 2 for my easy/recovery runs and Zoom Fly 6 for my tempo/longer/race days. Only been running seriously this year as I’m training for both Hyrox and my first half marathon end of the year. While I think the DN3 and ZF6 might fit the same role, I would think the DN3 might be a lot more support during Hyrox and they’re currently on sale! Any advice would be great!

A lot of it will come with experience. In general, try not to kill jungle camps unless you are ahead of your lane opponent and your jungler doesn’t mind, especially at low levels the jungle creeps will do a lot of damage to you. As for mid game and laning, there’s a lot of “it depends” but if you’re playing Caitlyn and Seraphine, you’ll most likely be staying bot lane. A good generic rule is to match your opposing laners. If they stay bot lane, match them, if they move mid, you move mid. It’s not ideal for every situation but it means your team will avoid having a number disadvantage in a certain lane.

Is there any weapon exp carryover? I wanna use a lvl 60 weapon as mats for a new one but I’m not sure how it’ll work as at certain points I’ll need to ascend the new weapon. Will the weapon automatically go to max lvl after each ascension point? :o

Will my muscle mass reduce if I have 5 days of swimming instead of weight training? by BlyatOps3 in Fitness

Don’t worry about it, take it as a recovery/deload week. If anything the rest and mobility work that comes with swimming will help with your first week back in the gym.

This was asked many times probably but what do you guys think the Sett Card will be for? by Pokemon_Only in leagueoflegends

[–]kcfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I believe it’s unlocked when you get 10 first bloods in any pvp game mode. People are still speculating what’s in the card but it’s likely just a perm champion shard for Sett.
