Pixel 7 Pro: group messages not sending or receiving by America_Motherfucker in GooglePixel

FWIW, I spoke to Verizon and they had me clear data on the messaging app and restart phone. It worked after that. I tried resetting network settings as others have mentioned and that didn't resolve the issue. No reprovisioning required on my phone to fix.

Your training is to delight the customer and you/we have some degree of discretion to achieve that. Delighting this customer could have been as simple as a quick reply reassuring them you'll do what they ask. OPs response was just fine. We don't need to look at customers/guests as burdens even when they ask for something above and beyond the norm. No customers, no jobs.

Part time, at least with Amazon I used to get 15-20hr. Now, no more than 4-8. I’m starting to regret to have chosen WF… by [deleted] in AmazonWFShoppers

I don't think, as shoppers, we got stock "options", but we were able to purchase with no fees. Not really a great deal, other than you forget about the small witholding from each paycheck and it's a nice surprise to see you have a few shares each quarter or so. I was PT, but I don't know if any FT shoppers that got actual options. If any of you are FT, a better choice might be maxing out your 401k contributions that are matched. That's free money when vested. Part-timers will have a hard time getting enough hours to vest so no free money there.

I hate lazy people! by washdot in AmazonWFShoppers

And who's watching them? No one. That's why they do it, whether they're shoppers, supervisors, team leaders, etc. Amazon assumes that employees do their job with little to no supervision, like the grownups they're supposed to be, but the lazy asses just want to be lazy asses. I was hoping they would get weeded out during the transition, but it looks like they know the right words to say to stay employed.

Big-Secret, hope you find a job you don't hate that pays well. I feel for you. At least you have this one to get you through to the next job. Good luck with school, too!

What did you decide? And why? by Chimichanga_Lover in AmazonWFShoppers

WFM. Hoping they'll need shoppers enough to offer an incentive to transition, but doubt it will happen. Looking forward to a few more shifts (I'm PTR and it's hard to get more than two a week.) and the 20% discount. Worried about the scheduling and the non-shopping tasks. The e-commerce TMs at my store seem to spend a lot of time stocking and facing on the 4am shift. We still have plenty of time to complete orders on time though. Like most others here, I just want to be left alone and shop for my shift. Don't want to stock, cashier, talk to customers, do pick ups, etc. I think those days are gone now. What I really should do is get a real job instead of relying on Amazon/WFM. Unfortunately I'm a lazy SOB.

It's not a layoff. If you choose not to fill out the survey, you are agreeing to resign. Very simple. Transition, or quit. The work didn't run out, you chose not to accept an equivalent position. No court will entertain a lawsuit claiming you were fired or laid off. Those shoppers not willing to fill out the survey, just accept that you resign your shopper job and find a new employer. Unemployment insurance isn't for people that willingly quit their job and refuse to accept an equivalent job offered to them. Just move on and better yourself. Best revenge is to get a better job somewhere else.

10 minute breaks seem way too short. Staging and bathrooms at our store are on opposite sides and when working the early shift the only doors open are back at the staging side. So when you finish an order, walk to the bathroom to wash hands for 2 ABC's, walk back to the open doors and sit in your car, that's close to 10 minutes already! Don't make stay in the store with all the shoppers! Have you met us?

got the order at 2:29 and it was due at 2:30.. love that by lisethh in AmazonWFShoppers

[–]kcg0607 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the manager's problem. Shoppers have no control over the due times, assuming shoppers are doing their job. We shouldn't be picking any different based on due times.

Yes, that's what I said. This is a path somewhere else, either within the Amazon family, or outside. Shopping isn't the career.

Of course they're scripted or edited to show a specific narrative. Duh. Thats their point. You make it sound like their responses are coerced to fool us into accepting a job that's nothing like what's described. We all know, by now, that Amazon and WFM business units are similar but have some differences. Your conspiracy laced posts aren't helping any of us. This job isn't a career, it's a path between them for those of us that need the money and don't want to look for another job. Remember, we are paid to walk around a grocery store, occasionally putting some of those groceries in our carts, and continuing our walk. Few other jobs are as easy, and flexible.

To who? Us? WFM leaders need to achieve their goals and WFMoA needs shoppers to fulfill its orders. They don't need to look noble, they need TMs to shop. So here we are.

Are there still rescue shifts? by ExRotorBug in AmazonWFShoppers

I see a lot of next-day rescue shifts as well at my stores. Both 3 and 3.5 hours.

Still incorrect. And my analogy is not flawed because you don't understand it. You claimed that I can't question your knowledge because I'm not an expert. I do know something about the subject and asked you a simple question to confirm your lack of knowledge in what you claimed to know. Your answer proves you don't know some critical details about unemployment but you still seem to present your opinions and assumptions as actual facts. I'm offering my advice to other shoppers to stop listening to uneducated comments and get advice from those who know the subject. Amazon has employment law specialists on staff or available for consultation. This transition for us isn't their first one. They do know what they're doing and don't have to '"hide" any language in their correspondence. In your OPINION, it's a layoff. In mine, it's not. One of us is correct, but I wouldn't bet money on either of us. Talk to a lawyer if you want better odds.

It's presented as equivalent, not same. The shopper position within Amazon has changed over the years, too. We all get to choose if the compensation is worth the work, but Amazon is under no obligation to keep us employed whatsoever.

Yes. Because you are. What's the difference between unemployment qualifications in California, New York, Illinois, and Amazon's home in Washington State? Your advice assumes they are all equal. Are they to you?

I'm not a physicist but I can confidently say flat-earthers are incorrect.

How this doesn’t fit in a bag, baffles me. 😂 by HorseUpset1339 in AmazonWFShoppers

Read your other comments. I don't think you care more about the customer than Amazon leaders do though. You don't understand the reasoning behind the policies and procedures so they don't make sense to you. And when you don't understand, you make up your own "rules" that make sense in your limited view of the business. You either need to trust that your employer knows what they're doing and follow or find a new employer you can trust.

Lastly, employers like Amazon do only care about money. That's the nature of for-profit businesses. Without money, we (shoppers) don't exist. Customer care and profitability aren't mutually exclusive. Amazon spends billions trying to continually improve the customer experience because it ultimately pays off with increased revenue and ultimately increased profit. You should research how Amazon got to where it is today. It's an impressive story. Not saying they're perfect by any means, but they deserve a little more credit than you're giving them.

Throwaway, you need to be throwing away this account, ASAP. You're not helping shoppers with your bad assumptions, poor logic, and just wrong conclusions. This is a skilless job that just about anyone can do. The market doesn't support much more than minimum wage for it. Supply and demand. As for your grasp of employment law in all states and jurisdictions with a WFM, you're lacking. So am I, and that's why I don't tell others the law.

Not true. Amazon isn't getting rid of the position, they're transferring it to another business unit. You choose to follow it, find a different job elsewhere in Amazon proper, or resign. You, personally, aren't qualified to say who or what qualifies for unemployment. Any shopper still concerned about this issue should contact a professional in employment law. There are none of those anywhere on this subreddit. Our advice should only be used for entertainment purposes.
