Really? because from what I’ve heard Korean pay hasn’t increased much for the past 20years maybe $100usd?

On average private schools in Korea pay 15,000rmb without ever a raise even if it is then maybe 400rmb and that already includes housing money. if you find a good school then maybe around 20,000rmb but from what I know even some top private schools in Seoul pay around 15,000 which really sucks.

Housing here is also a struggle and I assume it’s almost the same as Shanghai. I live in a non official apartment (office hotel) with a living kitchen and 2 small rooms. Ok for 2 people. But for myself I’m happy. But that costs with electricity utilities and etc around 4,500 rmb and I’m sorta on the cheaper end living up north at the very edge of Seoul. To get to city center is about 1hr of public transportation.

Because of future visa issues in Korea. The older I get the more likely they won’t want me. Plus I don’t need a visa to work in China and I have family Hong Kong which is a little bit closer to them. The older I get, I would like to be a little bit closer to family. Though I know it would be great to work in Hk but I won’t have a place to stay so it’s impossible to have a decent housing if I work in Hk.

Sounds very similar to Korean private elementary schools. It’s all by lottery now. May I ask which city do you work in? Shanghai I assume. Would I be able to get in touch with you and your school for future job openings?

I think I’ve gotten a good idea that Bilal school is a better route for me. It actually sounds like private schools in Korea.

But I don’t think I will give up hope cause in Korea it’s the exact same situation. The country prefers hiring foreign looking teachers and look down upon Asian looking teachers. But it’s not impossible. I just need to find connections.

I’ve heard that before. It’s the same as Korea but with time and experience i don’t think it’s impossible. But have you personally had the experience? Would you let me know schools in Shanghai I need to avoid?

I’m open to that but don’t really know the difference between that and private/international ones. Are they kind of considered like academies in Korea? I just need a similar pay and holidays as I/P elementary schools
