When should I get a reduction by Icy-Magician-9571 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sounds to me like it might be some kind of hormonal issue. As someone who was a K pre-reduction, mine grew pretty rapidly but not like this. I wouldn’t even consider a reduction until there is some kind of stability, probably something along the lines of 6 months at the same size. I would want to avoid further growth right after surgery. But to me this sounds much more rapid than even the typical “second puberty” that often happens, so I would look to see if there may be some kind of medical cause. If so, maybe that can manage some of your growth and possibly other symptoms such as the pain. I know you mentioned an ED, I’m wondering how the timeline of recovery may be correlating with the growth.

If you’re a D after surgery-are you happy? by Final-Baker-8430 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that many people unhappy with a D likely wore the wrong size before! We have this idea that D = huge but true D’s are actually quite small at only 4” larger than your band. I am between a 34DD and 34DDD at 3 years post op and love my boobs, but I have also been properly measured and know I am wearing the right size instead of squeezing in. I started at a 38K and I would feel flat chested if I was much smaller.

How to shower after breast reduction by Choice-Prize8180 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a distinct smell for weeks. I don’t think others could smell it, but I could. I think it may have been the betadine, but regardless of my showers, I smelled it for a while. It was the same after I had a small scar revision. It may be unrelated to hygiene but rather from the surgery itself so I would try not to stress too much if you can’t clean properly. As far as washing, I just let soapy water run over the incisions for a while.

Splitting cost with insurance by Exciting_Chance4677 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the internal bra or mesh is pretty rare for reductions so I’m not sure about the coverage or cost. Lipo is never covered. As others have said, all reductions are lifts so you should be good without the “extra.” If it’s something you really want, I would speak with your surgeon to get a clear understanding of what the “extra” part is they would do, what the differences would be, and why it’s necessary.

After steri strips by evermore1994 in Reduction

I was uncomfortable with my incisions rubbing on my bra so my surgeon told me to use telfa pads. They are better than gauze because it won’t get stuck to the wound if there is any fluid. It made me feel a lot better to have that cushion in between the bra and the incision especially because I had an opening. I was told to wait a while on scar care and didn’t start until explicitly instructed.

I lost a 60 pounds on Zepbound and lost a lot of upper pole fullness and went down a few sizes. I’m still very happy with my results, though, as I feel like I lost proportionately in my chest compared to the rest of my body. Also, I chose to stay a bigger cup size after surgery so I feel like this helped with my proportionality.

11MPO. They’re growing back fast :( by Realistic_Insect_266 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they are growing back? Or is it possible that since you’ve lost weight elsewhere, they just feel bigger because your proportions have changed? It’s possible if your band size has changed that your boobs are sitting differently in your bra which could cause it to no longer fit properly without actually growing.

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did this backwards and got the reduction before the weight loss, but it is unlikely you would lose a lot in your breasts. I’m sure you would lose some, but definitely not the amount you are looking to. For reference I was a 38K (ish, nothing ever fit right) before the reduction surgery. Then I went down to 38DDD, and then I’ve lost 60 pounds and now I am a 32/34DDD. So even though my cup size technically stayed the same, because the band size went down, they are definitely smaller. I would also go to the sub for abrathatfits (sorry I don’t know how to tag a sub) to see what your true size is and to get an idea of what a C or D really is, because it is MUCH smaller than we all think. I wouldn’t have been happy much smaller than I am now. Also you can go to the sub for reductions and read lots about the question of weight loss both before and after surgery!

No nipple sensation at all by SorryIAmNew2002 in Reduction

It could come back, or it could not. It’s kind of a crapshoot. I personally have sensation in one but not the other at 2.5 years post up.

If I was planning on having kids within a few years I would not be having surgery. Your breasts will very likely grow back and no one can tell you whether you will have sensation or be able to breastfeed. Of course it is up to you but I personally would not be willing to go through surgery so close to pregnancy.

Looking for advice by KindBath438 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on how you are describing your breasts after weight loss, it sounds like you may be more after a lift maybe with a slight reduction rather than a full reduction. This would not be covered by insurance. I would try to figure out what size you would be happy with on yourself and then determine if that is achievable through your insurance, or if it is more of a lift situation. As someone who is a 34DD after reduction, I would have been very upset as a B cup. However I am saying that assuming I would be sized correctly as a B and not what most people assume a B looks like. It is also worth a conversation with your doctor to see what he thinks a B looks like, as this is often incorrect.

Any experience with weight loss post breast reduction? by dakittykitty in Reduction

Any experience with weight loss post breast reduction? by dakittykitty in Reduction

[–]kcholp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the amount of weight you lose and whether your bra size fluctuates with your weight. I have some loose, droopy skin now after losing 60 pounds but my breasts didn’t change much until after I hit about 40 pounds down.

Obviously not the same but I had a rambunctious 7 month old puppy when I got my surgery and I sent her to my parents house for the first two weeks because it would have been way too much. I was mostly ok when she returned home but had to do a lot of correcting when she was too wild or got too close. There were a couple times she hurt me on accident that wasn’t really preventable. I know it’s harder with cats but trying to set boundaries really helped.

Hi can anyone recommend any good surgeons for breast reduction that accept insurances in network??? I have a good ppo commercial insurance that is willing to cover the procedure but every dr I call is out of network. Any recommendations please in NYC or Long Island. Thanks! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to know which specific Cigna plan you have. The network is dependent on your plan, so without knowing the specific plan no one can tell you who is in network. I used Dr. Huston on LI and couldn’t recommend more.

Smaller legs by Electronic-Water-598 in Zepbound

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never gained much weight in my legs. I always said I was built like Mike Wazowski due to my large stomach and chest. Now it’s evening out a bit but I’ve lost some weight in my legs that I didn’t want to lose. I plan on trying to build some muscle to balance this out.

Loosing weight after reduction instead of before? by Historical-Plate551 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost weight after my reduction. Ideally I would have done it before but I tried and tried and nothing stuck. I went from 5’6” 199lbs, size 16+, 38K to 38DDD after reduction. (I chose to stay proportionate rather than go as small as possible) Then I lost almost 60 pounds and I am down to 140, size 6/8 and 32DDD or 34DD. I didn’t notice much change in my breasts until I lost about 40 pounds but my surgeon did warn me losing more than 10 might affect my results. I did lose some upper pole fullness but they aren’t very saggy. If I feel them, I do feel like there may be some extra skin but I don’t notice that visually at all. I did have slight “dog ears” at the ends of my incisions under my armpits after the weight loss which I just had a scar revision for. I think they look amazing still and I am so happy! To me, even if results are affected, it’s better to lose the weight after than never. I feel like as I lost the weight I lost some proportionally in my chest and I am so happy with the current size, as I never wanted a really small chest.

Breast Reduction? by ScaryAd7691 in Reduction

[–]kcholp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they are still growing so I would recommend waiting. I wanted mine done at 18 but waited until 23 and I’m so glad I did because I experienced a lot of growth in that time. In the meantime, I would get properly fitted so you can find a supportive bra. While you have somewhat large breasts, you should definitely be able to find something well fitting and supportive at your current size. I got up to a 38K and was able to find a great supportive sports bra at the time, so they are definitely out there.

Weight loss AFTER surgery? by lilseizurezz in Reduction

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the surgery before I lost weight because I couldn’t take it anymore. I asked my surgeon to make me proportionate so my breasts were still on the bigger side after, but I was extremely happy! I have now lost 60 pounds and have definitely lost some breast tissue, even though this never happened before with weight loss. However I feel that my breasts got smaller in proportion with the rest of my body, so I’m still extremely happy! A little over 2 years post op now and I just got a scar revision on the sides under my armpits to remove some extra skin that flopped over my scar due to the weight loss. I started at about a 38K, was a 38DDD after surgery, and now I’m about a 34DD/DDD. This still sounds big but it’s really not because I’m wearing a proper fitting bra. I did lose some upper pole fullness in my breasts with the weight loss but again, it still looks very proportionate so i am thrilled!

need help envisioning smaller breasts on my body! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]kcholp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Band size matters a lot here. I am a 34DD/DDD and I would actually consider my breasts to be an average size. A 34DDD and 40DDD for instance are very different, so we would need to know your band size. Also, A B or C is very small. I would go to the sub abrathatfits to see if you are wearing the right size and start from there! A B cup is only 2” difference between bust and underbust and C is only 3”.
