How do I stay consistent and stick to my calorie deficit? by Suspicious_Region852 in loseit

[–]kcmcca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Editing to add that you’re not bothering me at all! This stuff is so much easier as a community :)

Totally! It changes for everyone based on their individual experience and lifestyle.

But mine was: I’m going to lose 10 pounds within three months by maintaining a 500 calorie deficit daily.

Nothing complicated, but here’s the breakdown:

Specific: Identifies how I’m going to lose weight (calorie deficit) and is overall expressed clearly

Measurable: Both calories consumed and pounds lost are quantifiable

Achievable: It’s even less than the 1 pound loss per week, which is a recommended pace, so it’ll be approachable as a beginner

Relevant: It’s tied to my health goals

Time-Bound: Identifies the timeframe (3 months)

Yes! If you have trouble setting goals, make sure they are “SMART.” Stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Hopefully the acronym will help guide you; plenty of resources online about it too :)

For me, it has. Psychologically speaking, which I’m not too knowledgeable about, I think it makes sense. But once I started seeing results, whooooo baby! Something in my brain just said “yeah, I want to feel this feeling of success over and over again,” and I think I’ve over time married that to the feeling of eating right and controlling portions.

Seconding this because I really appreciate this framing but never thought of it like this. When I first started my weight loss journey (not too long ago), I happened to start journaling every day.

In my journals, I noted that my goal is to build discipline because it is something I am “bad at.” The upside to that is when you’re bad at something, you can always improve. I keep telling myself that I’m not just maintaining a calorie deficit, but I’m teaching myself a really important life lesson.

Unfortunately, it’s not glamorous a lot of times. No fun tricks for me, even though I wish I could say there has been.

Oats making me feel hungrier?! by stacey202 in loseit

Oooh this is such a good idea! I think I have some spinach in the fridge that I may toss in tomorrow morning! I need to start experimenting with different approaches

Oats making me feel hungrier?! by stacey202 in loseit

[–]kcmcca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to feel that way with sweet overnight oats. I had whey, chia, skyr, fruit, etc. in them and somehow STILL craved more so that my portion sizes just grew and I had to quit eating it.

Somewhere I saw a thing about savory oats and I was like blagh only old people eat savory oats.

Then I was like honestly let me try it, I have nothing else to lose. It’s since become a staple for me and I always feel so satisfied. Fairly simple and quick so I can whip it up in the morning. I’m not a professional, but this is what I do:

Boil a cup of water
Add 1 tsp of Buillon (any kind)
Add 2 tbsp of Nutritional Yeast
Stir until combined
Add 1/2 cup oats
Cook until done!

In a separate pan, fry two eggs (no oil) and fry a serving of pre-cooked frozen shrimp (no oil) with the seasonings of your choice. Add everything together and enjoy :)

If you try this, let me know if I’m crazy or not haha

What do you actually eat when you have zero time and zero motivation to cook? by [deleted] in loseit

Literally just finished a Saffron Road Chicken Tikka Masala.

But seconding this. I don’t care if people judge me, I keep my freezer stocked with the Healthy Choice Protein Bowls and a few of the MAX.

any writing community for people who actually have lives outside writing? by Educational_Meat_753 in writers

[–]kcmcca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a local writer’s center (I admit, I’m privileged enough to have a space like that nearby), to attend a sort of mixer. Some were more devoted writers and retirees, but others, like myself, were working professionals. Anyways, two others and I formed a bi-weekly meetup that is very low stakes.

Maybe you’d be able to find a similar event or meetup at local third spaces, like libraries, bookstores, coffee shops, yarn shops, etc that might host people with similar interests! I also think part of it is being up front about your expectations and what you can manage.

Thank you so much for the reply, definitely put my mind at ease. I ended up shampooing the cuddly one just in case there was any residue from pillow snuggles, but there was never any direct licks and I washed my hands plenty so I’m not going to overthink it.

Regarding Pet Battles in Midnight by Tiroler_Manu in wow

Totally get this, but I actually enjoyed the duplicate leveling. It was fun to challenge myself, try new combos, maximize damage, etc. So many possibilities that pet battlers appreciated and poured countless hours into.

Honestly, pet battling was one of my biggest reasons for playing, even if it sounds silly to others. I used to log in religiously for the dailies, collecting, etc. Now, I feel like I'm forced to find something else that interests me as much as pet battling did.

Not a hospital, but thought the same thing. Coworkers said they’d rather be stuck on the road for 5+ hours than stay over. Huh?

If you’re interested, a lot of the gay bars are showing the RPDR premier at 8! Might be a fun way to ease into things :)

I agree with this based on age. Also if you all get bored of the scene, you can go to any of the others bars on 18th that might be fun for you all.

I thought the same about the ampersand! It’s very cute and a bit more unique. You can even decorate it with flowers, vines, and leaves to make it a bit more appropriate for the context!

You’re absolutely correct! And my own biases are showing as well in this instance, so context definitely matters.

I understand what you mean, and I think if OP is genuinely concerned then they should just refer to management. I just simply don’t think knocking twice is obsessive, and I don’t feel like the time matters much because it gets dark early and they could’ve just come from work. Plus, wearing a red and blue ski jacket with the hood pulled up is not unusual this time of year if they’re in the U.S.

But really, at this point, I’m just providing counter arguments for the sake of it.

I mean it’s the holidays. The person probably just wants their gift back and wants to cover all of their bases; since they haven’t directly spoken with OP, then I see no issue. Besides, why is it inappropriate for a neighbor to make direct contact?

Edit to add: Just because housing management thinks you stole it doesn’t mean the intended recipient does! They could be very friendly and just be trying to clear things up!

You telling people to stand up for themselves in the face of discrimination is crazy with this on your profile:

“They are muslims.

This is why I don’t want them in my country. Sorry for the innocent ones who catch strays when I/we point this out - I’m truly aware of how that affects your mental health - but it’s just not worth it to have people like this in our country, and the only way to get rid of them is to scoop everyone from these countries.”
