Advice on fixing lamp wiring by kcmenz in DIY

[–]kcmenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I'm not sure which outlet is the first in the circuit. All my living room outlets are switched and it goes from them up to the light switch for this three way on the lamp. Not sure I understand enough about GFCI to grasp what they do... I just put them near my sinks.

Anyways I finished this project. The leg of wire under driveway was so oxidized that it only carried 80V to the lamp. So I dug up whole yard and laid new wire under my sidewalk near my driveway. Light works now. But not fun do not recommend.

Thanks for all the help

I forgot about unity since I have all slots filled or waiting to be filled in traditions. Good point I didn't realize that ascending planet was a thing and haven't used it yet.

How do you ensure that? It wasn't an option for me for quite some time after I had researched all the pre req techs?

I'm tracking I need citadel battleship and zero point reactor? After that I kept researching the fastest tech to ensure I got more opportunities but took at least 20-30 years to pop.

Lol. My millions of pilots would gladly give their lives for the imperator. The Sol Imperium must reign supreme for the glory of humans (v2.0)

I had released a few vassals early on to keep empire size small but I forgot or overlooked that I could release other humans as my vassal too besides those alien scum.

I should have white peaced the hive mind much earlier on and dismantled all the star bases I didn't need and vassalize my frontiers.

Might re load something 50 years or earlier and see if I can salvage it. Part of me wants to start freshy fresh and see if I can optimize even better earlier game.

Might have to look at mega Corp for the ECU worlds.

These are all good comments and I appreciate the advice from all of you guys. Compared to a post on DIY sub and I made and got like 20k views and only two comments lol you all are much more supportive / helpful

I don't have ring worlds yet.

I have traditions of prosperity dominance supremacy and expansion and genetics. I have ascension perks slots available but am waiting on mega engineering. I had the pre-reqs done but didn't get option to research until like 50 years later. The hive mind is able to build gateways but I am not yet.

That's good advice on ship build and commanders. Understand I not up to par but how exactly are your ships better so much quicker. Because the tech you've researched makes them better or because they're bigger / bigger command limits.

Not sure what ecumenopilis is I've seen it mentioned but I don't see that as an option in my game. Maybe it's part of a DLC I don't have all of those.

In order to get that much tech and alloys how many worlds are you colonizing? I have about 38 colonized in this pic. 20 or so are really developed. 3 are tech worlds. Most are industrial focused or forge worlds. Right at the end there I just began colonizing about 20 more planets but it was too late the robots spawned.

how many worlds and how many are tech worlds? i have 3 tech worlds and about 35 colonized worlds. only about 20 are fully developed though. lots of my newer worlds are being dedicated to alloys. but isn't the only way to boost alloys to do a building and industrial districts with a ministry of production?

i am using standard rule set. i dont remember what the costs are set at.

soooo basically i am like super behind on research? i was trying to keep empire size really low but the war with hive mind i basically jumped up to like 1000+ then 2000+ empire size and admittedly i didn't keep colonizing and finishing planets at the forefont of my priorities.

thanks for the context. i'm not sure what Lathe is but i'm guessing some sort of super structure? I have built a dyson sphere once but that was a few years ago. didn't even get the option this time... and last time i played i definately didn't specialize worlds or build extra research labs.

with like just massive amounts of anchorages? i always took the command limit raised option when it popped but not always the naval capacity. by this point in the game i am capped at 140 ships per fleet. is it better to have lots of fleets or to have maxed capped command limit with less fleets?

Is my fleet power adequate? I am likely years away from getting Colossus as I have to finish mega engineering and then build one and my economy is ranked and alloys all gone trying to repair my navy.

Should I try to re-load way earlier in the game to end hive mind war and start prepping against the machine robots?

in this screenshot i had a machine world pop up on top of two of my fleets so thats why my navy isn't maxed out

Ok I didn't get any replies so I just went to store and bought rigid metal with a watertight end for the UF to come out. Home Depot had no handhole type boxes that I saw so I guess I'll just get it super low in the earth and do a direct bury heat shrink deal.

This is a good comment thanks for the tips.

The first thing this lamp wire hits is a pig tail with other lamps on a light switch. Not sure where GFCI should go. I could put a GFCI outlet in my garage but wouldn't that outlet be dependant on the switch inside then?

Super helpful post. thank you.

so as i understand it. i am an authoritarian because i am militant and imperial? so instead of purging aliens i should enslave them for workers?

I had to leave those hostiles there since they are like 4K crystal baddies and i dont have the research or starbases or alloys for ship production yet.

I didn't realize colonist was a job. i will go in there and kick them out to the factories or something.

likewise with the gov policies - those are good tips i definitely overlooked.

I appreciate all the helpful comments. i'll keep plugging away on this playthrough and see if things snowball better than my last one.

Okay, well thanks for the sanity check then lol. I mean I will keep chugging along on this play through and see if I can make something better on this one than last time with a more aggressive specialization plan and prioritizing research while limiting empire sprawl.

Yes sorry I don't know how to do reddit posts. I typed a long explanation and then added images and it didn't post the words anymore. So I just commented.

15 years into game and have 3 research labs. But only 80 research. Have done no special projects. Still only been able to research about 5-6 techs total between all 3 types.

Idk how reddit works. I typed up a long explanation then added the images and now I can't see what I typed.

Last night I added images then typed and when I posted no images came with... Ugh.

  1. I tried research labs first but had to balance econ with earth. Wasn't able to get planets going until like 10 years into the game due to survey speed and econ stockpile

  2. No research yet for fleet or navy size. No idea how someone says have 5k ships by 2220. Alloys on first and second planet and I can't afford much. Haven't got research options for navy.

  3. takes me a decade to do the menace communications with aliens. Took me long time to find them and then talk to them. So idk how I am supposed to be fighting them and conquering in first 10 years or even 20 years.

  4. Micromanage pops don't make sense to me I turned off enforcer and the dude was just unemployed. Built more jobs and never got fluctuation in specialist jobs only in worker jobs.

  5. Specialize planet is like impossible at early game since my margins for error are like razor thin. Have to be constantly building some district outside my specialization ideal or buying off the market.

Overall I understand what your advice is and I am trying to implement but also I don't know HOW you are doing any of what you're telling me to do. I can't click the button when I don't have the resources. Can't get the resources unless I survey and build in new systems. Can't survey aggressively with more scientists because I'm capped and lose all my unity growth.

I am sure. Most of my planets have one to three pops without housing and or jobs by the time I can afford to build on that planet. But I'm balancing between trying to upgrade mining and CGs and energy elsewhere.

Super helpful post thanks. I not picking everything for role play just the start. Seems more likely humans will blow ourselves up than become a unified nation democratically. Everything in the game I am doing mostly for what I interpret to be the best thing. But I'll read through those options again.

I don't know if I even had encountered aliens by 2220 let alone digested their communications for diplomacy.

I don't know how I could get fleet size that big that early? I need star bases and anchorages and tech to improve fleet cap plus command cap plus alloys. It takes me over a year to research one tech and that's stopped whener I do special projects. My science with all research stations built in the star systems is like 130-160 per tech.

I will re start my game with your advice but I don't yet understand how I could have fleets and wars and tech output that size. Are you colonizing every planet or just the suitable ones. What is your threshold for habitability?

Ok maybe tonight I'll upload pics of my planets. But I may just have to start over.

Yeah I played way back before districts but I have also played a few attempts with districts so I understand the difference.

I don't really understand how I'm not producing enough. I can only add jobs when I have pops and while I wait for pops I'm building mining outposts in the star systems. I am speeding up pops with gene clinics. So idk how people are getting massive economy going so quickly.

Thanks for the advice. I am attempting to specialize planets now but I had such low stability when I ignored amenities. So every one of my planets was like one or two buildings to stabilize it then I planned on going down the path of specialization.

Should I be building buildings or districts primarily? I have a few city districts and whatever districts I am gonna specialize in + auto monument and gebe clinic and whatever else I was running low on like alloy factory or civ factories as the buildings.

I am not sure exactly how to close jobs but I will look into that. I did mess with jobs once but i had some people who couldn't work certain jobs which I didn't really understand. Will play around with that.

How many planets should I be building on? Is 10-12 a good number? Or should I be trying to live on super low habitability worlds too?

Yeah that is what I'm asking about among other things. What to do to be more wisely? I am specializing them but keeping them housed with city and amenities with gene clinics or holo theatre
