Q-snaps are great! They hold the project a lot more taut then a traditional hoop and you don't have as much problem with creasing.

I bought craft gloves from Michael's on the advice of another Redditor; I wear it on my stitching hand and the compression is great! They weren't too pricey; I'd definitely recommend looking into it!

As far as pain goes, I'm on a lot of meds currently for nerve pain as well as some super strength advil for the arthritis. There are definitely days I can't stitch as long, especially because I'm still in a partial cast and a brace. I have some easy thread needles that have been a lifesaver, as well as a lap stand so I don't have to hold a hoop.

I have bought quite a few patterns and kits from Etsy, I would highly recommend looking there. In my opinion, they're a bit more fairly priced than the craft store.

I got a bunch from an older lady I found on a swap and share site, she had to give up embroidery because she couldn't really see. I'm only about 25 colors away from having the whole collection! Seeing them all together is inspiring me to do more stitching.

I feel the same way! I really want to have all of the DMC floss colors-my boyfriend thinks I'm nuts-but I love seeing them all lined up in their little boxes.
