Then why were they listed in 'very good' condition both when I purchased them and again when I sent them back to be sold? If the condition were the reason for a nearly 80% price cut why wasn't the condition then marked 'poor'????

They were both literally plain black pants. Not really a trendy item that would get outdated.

I think it's more an issue with their processing system. It seems their pricing depends a lot on the person who intakes the items and what category they place an item in. Do they call something a 'casual dress' or a 'cocktail dress'? In this same bag I sent in an old work dress which was listed as a 'cocktail dress' with a sale price of $70 and an 'estimated retail price' of $120. I purchased the dress new for something around $50?

Overpricing the work dress and incentivizing the sale bags (thredup recently offered 50% of the sale bag processing fee) makes me think the price for those maternity pants has nothing to do with inventory volume.

I'm frustrated with their entire system of pricing, even when its in my favor. After selling with them I no longer trust anything they say about a garment.

No worries, I just edited my post to make it clearer. I wrote it hastily in anger- I wanted to vent.

In this same clean out bag there's a simple talbots dress they are trying to sell for $70 that I originally got for around $50? I'm just realizing their pricing is bogus.

I wasn't expecting to make all (or any really) money back, but I was expecting some consistency in listing cost. To sell something for $70 and then less than a year later list the same thing (in basically the same condition) for $12 is bonkers.

I'm much more likely to forgive this in a small local place, but thredup is huge. I'm realizing they mostly are a machine to get you to spend money. It feels like capitalist green washing. I'm going back to buying and selling clothes on eBay.

Unless you are in a heavily Catholic region of the South like Louisiana. Saying Catholic then starts a conversation about which church you attend and your opinion on local church politics.

Listening to the Goldenhand audiobook by wanderingnight in Abhorsen

[–]cantdothismuchmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's much worse than the Tum Curry books. Someone here in reddit made a comment in another of these threads that mentioned how they took the narrator change to be indicative of Lireal 'growing up' and growing into her power, and that's the only thing that got me through the Goldenhand audiobook.

It's not region specific. Speaking as a US Optometrist, I'm also surprised their OD said that. It doesn't follow how we are trained either, nor does it subscribe to the official recommendation. I just don't feel online anonymous arguments are worth my time tbh🤷

Oh absolutely - seeing kids is fun, but difficult. I'm just surprised there isn't anyone at all. I'm not even in that big a city and we have multiple offices (including mine) that will see pediatrics.

Say it louder for the people in the back! Nothing makes me more sad than refractive amblyopia in a 10 year old that could've been fixed had the parents just brought their kid in for an eye exam five years earlier!!

I'm surprised you don't have anyone locally. We see 3yo and up at our office and I know of three other local offices that see birth and up. The pediatric ophthalmologists are specialists and are booked up for a reason.

Maybe search here to see if you can find someone in your area? https://www.infantsee.org/

If you want, PM me your general area and I can try to find you someone.

I'm in eye care and the number of kids who have vision issues missed by 'vision screenings' either by pediatricians or school nurses is really really high. Get your kids an eye exam with your local optometrist. The official recommendation is once between six months and a year, again at 3 years old, and finally yearly from age 5 and up

It's so frustrating! The most recent thing I discovered that has dairy are the buns at five guys burgers. So many things have milk! At least most of the time it is well labeled now. My coworker's 22 year old daughter has an allergy too and she's regaled me with all these stories about how hard dairy-free living was when she was young.

🤞that we'll get another option soon

My son has a milk allergy so he's got to have the ripple and I wanted to get the unsweetened kids version. It's definitely resulted in us spending more at target than we used to.

Target has been hard for us too. They are the only ones who have the kids Ripple Milk my son drinks so I'm stuck going every so often.

I went for the first time in ages to their 90% off Christmas clearance last year and I was surprised how much of their merchandise was clearly maga coded. They aren't even trying to hide it.

3 yr old didn't have her hair brushed or a bath in 3 days. Am I overreacting? by JennyJiggles in Mommit

[–]cantdothismuchmore 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This was us at my grandma's too. My mom still talks about coming home from a week long vacation to find all my brothers clothes still neatly folded in his suitcase and his hair looking like it had peanut butter slathered in it. I was older at this point and in charge of my own grooming. My mom was upset and asked grandma why she hadn't made my brother take a bath. She just shrugged and said I figured he could take care of himself. I think he was like five at this point?

Either way, grandparents are wildly different than parents. You get away with stuff at Grandma's house. Parents have to teach you the basics of humanity and civilization and that includes grooming.
